Forum closed

I really don't see what all the fuss is about in regards to shutting the forum. It was done to make a point. Point made, move on...
Agreed. I was one of those voicing my opinion on the matter and I feel that I had a right to put my point across. But a lot of us (myself included) needed reminding who runs this place and that we either play by the rules or get lost, which the forum closure did in no uncertain terms.

Stepping into the consoles forum for the last month or so has been like stepping down 20 years in age, seriously.

/runs away, locks the door, eats the key...

You people scare me :(

I missed the console forum for the day it was closed, and I also missed being able to post when I was suspended. They do say you only really appreciate something once it's gone.

I think posting about other shops, while useful, is not all that the forum is about. For me the main attraction has always been discussing the games and the hardware, and we can still do that.

Not visited GD lately then! ;)

Well said. :)

Hopefully the maturity levels have now shot up in this section, which now lets me look into the future (well the 8th!) and look forward to it rather than dreading it.

Should be ace when the Wii gets released and the console wars kick off in the UK just as long as we are all mature about it.

I am glad the majority of people can understand the decission and are willing to follow the rules. Has improved my opinion of this section greatly. :)

Only if you mention that they stock console gear, completely ignore and pretend that they do not and you are fine. :)

careful, yewen. i thought the idea was a blanket ban so there was no confusion. Saying things like that will just get it started all over again. we could also 'pretend' that competitors dont sell 360 gear. where would that leave you guys? shutting down threads and suspending accounts because people are misinterpreting your rules.

'Pretending' things to get around rules? See my previous post...

It would be easiest to go along with that I agree. :)

Games stores there is indeed a blanket ban, and mentioning Tescos for gaming is now a ban along with other supermarkets.

It would be harsh to stop you showing of their fruit and veg. :)

In gaming there are no external links to shops now. Sorry for any confusion my comment may have caused.

give over. im telling him that people will misunderstand what he is saying and get the rules wrong. I'm not misconstruing him at all. Though at least we can argee that no apology is needed from yewen.

Yeah, I didn't see any trouble causing there, I just didn't want to say anything until after you'd said so yourself ;)

There's still none of those links allowed in here, but in GD supermarkets and the like will be fine, because the topics under discussion will be clothes, food, etc.

the reason to shop at OCuk if you live close to the shop (like me)
1 they dont stock crap
2 competitors on occasion may be have the odd item slighty cheaper (rarely imo), but when you factor in the p&p the others cost more anyhow
3 you can take stuff back in person
4 despite the gripes ive made about the queue (which incidently were not a dig at OC staff) the service in the shop is usually quite quick

Yep and also you have to balance number of sales staff with quieter periods in the day. In an ideal world we'd 10 shop staff but most of them would be twiddling their thumbs for large parts of the day.

Prior to me getting my first proper IT job 4 years ago I had never heard of OCuk and have to say you are head and shoulders above the competition. I have dealt with a lot of suppliers both in a professional sense and a personal sense and although I have got the odd deal now again but I always return back to clockers. The friendly staff the knowledge that you people have is great and when it comes to returns you are certainly up there with the best of them.
Although there have been times in the store when I have waited it is rarely more than 5 minutes which in my eyes is pretty darn good considering the amount of people pop by to buy their stuff in person.

Well done and keep up the good work.

Now back into the subject in hand I have to say that I didn't really understand the reason for the console forum being closed but then again I only read a few posts every now and then. Hopefully with the nwew rules in place people will honour them and prevent this higly amusing and entertaining forum being closed again.

just my 2p's worth there.
