Got the same issues aswell and on VM. Doubt it's worth calling them, but will look at that link to their forums...

First big issue I've had with VM outside the rare isolated loss of service

EDIT: added proxy settings and its now working - any reason not to leave this as a permanent setting?

well it's broken xampp so i can't work locally with the settings as they are which is a pain to have to constantly change. family have told me this has messed up their emails as well, hard to say if i'm getting the same issue.

if you ring virgin media they now added a message saying we're experiencing issues blah blah blah so at least they're aware now and admitting there is a fault.
