Forza 4

Very, very pleased with myself right now. I have just landed a place on the world leader boards a smidge over 2000t place with my Honda Integra Type R B500 tune on the short Tskuba track. I even beat dreeder(sp).

Managed to beat you after 10 laps in a VX220, my new time has left me 0.02 seconds behind Matt Tracker who is beating all my times for fun. :(

i think he just means the B class leaderboard for tsukuba short. I'm not even sure what i did to set a time in my z4. can only assume it was done in career mode. I'll go back with something a bit more.. sensible.

edit: had a quick 5 laps in my elise and put it #60. :)

What circuit/class... I'm either being daft or i cannot see your time on the B class short Tskuba track leaderboard.

Same one, beat you in a Pinto.

I'm not part of the OCUK group, but have you in my friends list :p Beaten you on a few other rivals things too last week :p

Do I need to put some new times in, eh? :)

Very odd, it isn't showing me your time in the "club+friends" leaderboards, although you are on my friends list.

Ive just had another bash and got to #167, over a hundred places behind Rahr85, but knocked about 7th of a seconds off my time.

the elise i used should be in the club garage if you want to use it. gearing is a little off for tsukuba but it works.

What about the short circuit? That's the one I have been tuning for. I take it the Camaro's at the top of the short one are a glitch too? How did this come around then, what causes the glitch?

Its a long discussed flaw in the PI calculation to put it short. The stock 4 speed transmission in a lot of the muscle cars (and some classics) artificially limit to the top speed of the car keeping their PI low as on the imaginary track used to calculate it the long straights would hamper the car. The problem is these cars accelerate up to their relatively low top speed (129mph in B) well before any other cars will and due to the PI being lower than it should be you can also add a decent amount of handling to the car. What makes it obvious that this is the problem is that when you add a race gearbox to the car the PI will jump up to take it well into another class. So you have the acceleration and handling of a car around A590 in B class but with the low top speed. With the top speed being the limiting factor it becomes fairly pointless on all but the longest tracks. Even road america has the camaros at the top.

The '79 camaro is a lesser version of the cars that no longer post to the leaderboards due to this issue:

  • 1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock
    1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale
    1967 Dodge Coronet W023
    1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt
    1971 AMC Javelin-AMX
    1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EV0
    1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

There are a couple of other cars in the short circuits leaderboard because there are a few less straights for them to jump so far ahead.

Cheers for that. A bit naff to say the least. Maybe T10 should ban certain cars from certain tracks or at least reset the leader boards. So in essence my 48s time is pretty much a top time if you disregard the Camaros hogging of the top places. Not looked into where I am actually on the LB taking off the Camaros.

Shame..

They did in the last patch??

T10 patch details said:
How does this title update address issues with leaderboard cars?

With this title update, we are temporarily removing the ability for certain cars to post times on the leaderboards while we investigate refinements to our Performance Index system that will allow us to once again admit these cars back in the mix. The affected cars:

1968 Dodge Dart HEMI Super Stock
1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale
1967 Dodge Coronet W023
1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt
1971 AMC Javelin-AMX
1992 Lancia Delta Integrale EV0
1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

In addition to this temporary removal of these cars from posting leaderboard times, we will be wiping the leaderboard times of those cars across different leaderboards. In a future title update, we’ll be addressing the PI refinements in greater detail and once again allowing these cars to post leaderboard times. Stay tuned for more in the future.

Or are there some new glitch cars they missed?

The camaro '79 is another of the cars that uses the same flaw to lap ~2-3seconds a lap faster than anything else instead of the 5-6seconds that the now 'under review' cars were doing. I've not tested everything but it comes down to whether or not the stock gearbox will be limiting the top speed in the class you are running in. Getting 350bhp along will full weight reduction and handling upgrades in B class makes it a bit of a monster. Without trying i was setting top 20 times around all the tracks i was running it beating PB's by anything up to 5 seconds.
