Forza 4

Great pics of the new Fanatec stuff on endgadet here

Love the new pedals too and Demon or others do bear in mind the Elite model has dual powered motors now with 120watts. A Thrustmaster T500RS has 65watts so it's possible depending how the wheels work that this new elite wheel will indeed be a big step up and has a full metal chassis. As a full wheel/pedals/ shifter package I reckon this will be close to £500-£550 for the elite model anyways.

The Americans get far better prices on Fanatec stuff than us or Europe when you consider the exchange rates.

Is F4 using a new engine or is it tweaked Forza 3?

I'm not sure but I think its just the FM3 engine with a different lighting model.

When they announced FM3, they really pushed the fact that it was a new gfx engine. They have been pretty quiet this time so I'm assuming its just the lighting thats different. He also mentioned about importing vinyls from FM3 so I think it will be.

From the in car footage I've seen so far, can't see a lot of difference - I'm sure there is.. can't see any evidence of a windscreen on the cars which was a bit of a bug bear in FM3 for me, still - looks great !

Do like the look of the CSR Elite so maybe replace my GT2 with one of those, but will keep the clubsport pedals.

Official Quote

"Unified lighting means dramatically improved cars and tracks and alternate time of day lets you experience previous Forza tracks in a completely new way."

So it seems the new lighting engine from "Epic" was much less taxing on the console and has allowed them to incorporate much more towards not just improved graphics/lighting but on a larger scale too with upto 2x the number of cars with increased polygon counts as well. Not only that whatever resources Kinect requires is also handled in full races.

I love the new pedals as well, prefer to have pedals hanging too and it seems you can do that with an additional kit on the new pedals.

Also when comparing the T500 pedals to the CSP they are further apart more like a real car. The new CSR pedals seem to of adopted the 40-50mm distance companies like Sparco recommend.

If the CSR pedals are a sensible price, which the article suggested they would be as they are less well spec'd than the clubsports, then I'll possibly give them a go.

On the Forza website it mentions a few 'layouts' of the Top Gear airfield, I really hope that it will be a benchmark kinda thing, and one of the layouts is completely open. Would be fun to blast around the airfield with a mate, powersliding onto the runway and nailing it to top speed! Anyone agree? :D

I'm sure they'll add the drag strip.

Dan spoke of it being a multi year contract so I think we could be seeing quite a lot of TG influence in the game. Also things like the stunts they have done on the show.

Its maybe one thing they will offer via DLC to keep the game fresh too.
Getting Top Gear style challenges...

probably mentioned before here,

but on the trailers i've seen for FM4 when they look back ( rear view ) it's like FM3 were there is no rear of the car shown or the rear window / seats of the car.

why do they say there all about realistic driving and yet they don't have this feature? it's crap looking back and nothing being there.

well even if they went with the dirt 3 rear view that shows the rear spoiler of the car, it's still better knowing there's something back there lol.

lazy i would say.

Given how long it took Polyphony to model 100 or so cars for GT5, I think I'll take my chances with Turn 10's "laziness".

This is looking phenominal already!! I know i'm a big Forza fanboy, specially after the yucky mess that was GT5!

Playing through FM3 again, well finishing it for the full 1000, loving it all over again, specially doing the R1 & R2 enduro next to the other TV with Le Mans on :D

All kinds of hyped for this already!! Less than 4 months to go!! :D

It sure is Tim.
