Forza 4

I just hope its more "fun", felt the racing in FM3 was just a bit boring and even though it sounds silly the racing seemed very samey. Hopefully theyll do missions etc like in GT5, they are my fav part of the game TBH, they feel like a driving puzzle if you see what i mean.

+1

As soon as I had finished the licences and challenges in GT5, I lost all interest, and I bet I only did 20% of the races in Forza.

I can understand and appreciate why they gave us so many races, but I felt a little overwhelmed.

I'm currently grinding the event list to get the final achievement and yeah... It does get a bit overwhelming. A more structured and engaging career mode would definitely help in that regard.

I always wondered why they never tried/tested having a CO-OP or VS type mode being available within the "Career Challenges".

How would that work? any other racing game had co-op career?

Dont think Racing games have used this but it would be nice to be able to race a friend(s) with the AI to do some of the career or challenge things. With 8 cars in the past by the 3rd corner often you were in front and the AI put up little challenge.

Depends how much better 16 cars and the AI in FM4 will be but more variety in the career mode would be great.

Not seen it in a "proper" racing game, but I think an earlier incarnation of Burnout had a co-op mode.

Two ways around the AI problem :
1) Pick a car that's a bit more of a challenge against the AI.
2) Race against real people on XBL. The stock production hopper is most excellent for levelling up the odds.

If the AI is left behind then it would just be you and a friend racing assuming both of same ability, which is probably not that varied and can be achieved online anyway?

Having just done a couple more races in FM3...

I've said it before, but I want more granular AI, and I want more realistic AI. At the moment, the AI just sticks to the racing line at varying speeds. I want AI that screws up the corners or mistimes gear changes, not AI that drives perfectly with the accelerator only halfway down. If I can brutalise medium AI, but I don't stand a chance against hard, then I'd really appreciate some middle ground...

I want AI that respects other cars. I started a race in an upgraded Ferrari 599. A Maserati MC12 got off the mark quicker than me and promptly knocked me right off the track in a bid to get on to the racing line. This is not fair or fun.

I want the PI system to be tweaked. My 599 has a PI of 699. The stock Veyron has a PI of 700, but I can't think of any circumstances under which my 599 would come close to the Veyron, as the Veyron is just too quick in a straight line. I also have a massively upgraded Mazda Superlight MX-5 with a PI of about 675 which is worthless in a straight line but fine in the corners, and a massively upgraded Audi Quattro with a PI of about 675 which is incredible in a straight line but which would struggle to turn round in an empty car park. Neither is, in practical terms, at all comparable to the 599 or the Veyron. Something is not really working here, and I'm not just talking about my insane car upgrade attempts.

I can't comment on that as I have it on hard and most of the time I can beat them in equal cars.

I've never had a problem with this. Every time I out-brake them they always know i'm there and there is very little contact if any. I'm not saying it's perfect, but I've got some replays saved where I've had some great clean battles with the AI.

I've just done a test of this with those cars around Mugello full and got the same time in both cars (just chose quick upgrade to 700 for the 599). I chose Mugello as its a pretty balanced track, but of course the Veyron would dominate the 599 around something like Le mans. Its only when you get to the fine-tuned leaderboard cars where one car seems to be at the top.

I think they have done a great job of the PI considering all the factors that are involved.

Need to see more of this headtracking with Kinect. Is it going to be useful or a cheap (expensive) gimmick. Hope we find out before the release.

Still working through Forza 3
Still trying to get all golds myself, I refuse to hire a driver.

You mean the random crackle sound that happens once in a while?

Happens more often than that, it's particularly nasty on the cobbled streets.

And occasionally the engine sound loops, so you're slowing down but engine rpm still sounds like you're on throttle.

Most racing games for me when racing with the AI and using a similar car it isn't challenging enough. It's certainly not just a Forza issue.

AI usually In most console racing games are weak at braking and are too easy to overtake, they also can be too slow coming off corners too. Shift 2 was a bit better in it's challenge and things like auto log or whatever they call it IMO are needed to take racing games further. The whole career race for cash/upgrade thing just feels like racing games from 10-15 years ago. More innovation would be really welcomed within the whole racing genre. Why can't AI be developed to monitor a players entry/exit speeds and modify it's own performance to match?

Racing online for more competitive competition doesn't do anything to improve the carreer mode races. That's my point as many found FM3 career to get rather dull after a while.

They just need to shorten the SP career really, FM3 was too much, but it was well structured and you were gifted cars that you could use to progress, without needing to repeat events 100 times over just to progress...I got to about the start of season 6 and did give up but that was quit a lot of playtime before I finally got bored of it.

I'm halfway through season 5 (R3 championship) which seems to go on forever, can't imagine how long season 6 will be

How many are there in total?
