Forza 4

Thomas from Fanatec has stated he will make an announcement during E3 about the long awaited Clubsport Shifter for the Fanatec wheels. Its expected to be a full metal 7 + 1 speed gate shifter.

Although nothings confirmed I wouldn't rule out a new link with Fanatec & T10 again being on the cards for FM4.

Happens more often than that, it's particularly nasty on the cobbled streets.

And occasionally the engine sound loops, so you're slowing down but engine rpm still sounds like you're on throttle.

I've never seen an occurrence of that, and I play FM3 a lot. Get the occasional crackle, but no more than once a week and I'm usually on for 8+ hours a week with team related activity.

It would be a good move, with PD having the official link with the Thrustmaster. It needs more support.

I wonder if Fanatec will be selling any upgrade kits in the future for current wheels to connect to the next Xbox. It's a fair chunk of change for something with some obsolescence coming.

Same here. Maybe a hardware issue.

You guys said the same thing last time even when the T10 sound guy put his hands up and admitted fault, but later back peddled slightly.

I did some more testing when this came up again last time, but I couldn't be bothered to dredge the topic up again. What I found was close AI racing seemed to exacerbate the sound glitches on Silverstone. It didn't matter what sound output or equipment was used as I could hear it via my AD700 headphones plugged directly in with no amplification. I haven't tried different consoles, but I strongly suspect I'd be wasting my time.

Its quite a common issue, so it's not I can assure you just his setup. Even the official forums had people discussing it at one time.

I never found it that annoying but had noticed odd drop outs at times.

It's happened on mine very rarely. At the end of a straight, you start to brake and slow down but the engine note just keeps going for a little while.
Seems strange when it happens, like my brain's not expecting it.

Hardly obsolete as they also work on PS3 & PC and who knows their next console may change to operate like PS3 in using PC compatible wheels.

I didn't say it was totally obsolete, but since this is a Forza topic PC and PS3 have little relevance.

It's got a lot of relevance. I regularly race with a number of guys who use both a PS3 or PC in addition to their xbox. If you're going to spend a chunk of money on a decent wheel you might as well buy a third party one that works cross platform and has decent support.

Once I got past the chip on your shoulder blocking out the sun.

It's a bit soon to to start speculating about a future xbox with unknown specifications. The here and now is far more relevant.

Nobody said you did to be fair.
However your comment speculates that the X360 replacement won't be compatible with current Fanatec wheels as a certainty or requiring an upgrade kit/adapter.

Yes I would be surprised if much carried over when they can sell you all the accessories again as before whilst the console is at its most loss producing. It looks a bit bleak for wheel support in general without the current official wheel being produced/seen as relevant and possibly no next gen official replacement either.

What has all that got to do with enjoying games now with a wheel? You may say it looks bleak for wheel owners but I disagree as their are some great racing titles already to enjoy and several more coming this year including FM4. T500RS wheel showed that people were willing to spend £400 / $600 on a licensed wheel launching at a time that only properly supported a single game. So don't underestimate the power or control a franchise can have over it's fanbase.

With no MS wheel anymore then the chances are good for Turn 10 to have been working with a company for sometime on a replacement or even possible special edition FM4 wheel. Yes this is all just talking but it's also a possibility that something could be coming. If not I'd say it's a massive opportunity that is missed.

For instance Thomas told me himself that industry insiders knew of a Thrustmaster GT5 deal at last years E3 long before the November announcement.

I just seems to me that the next Xbox is not as far away as we might think 2 years rather than 4. I was thinking more about Forza 5 likely next gen and what you might be able to use a wheel for besides that on that platform. Anyway I'm going off topic here so I'll put my glass ball away.

Think I cursed myself, should never have said I was going to get all golds in Forza 3. Xbox decided it was a bad idea and my saves have vanished  Seriously not impressed, had less than 25 events left to complete plus all my designs, setups and replays have gone aswell.

Do I still want Forza 4? Not as much as I did yesterday!

Yes lets concentrate on FM4.
We are less than a month away now from E3 and they do seem to be planning a big roll out for the game their.

Triple screens / Kinect Head Tracking / Possible 7 Speed Shifter ?
Could be quite a fun game :)

The price of monitors these days and 2nd hand X360s more of you should consider the multiscreen option as its a big addition to the games enjoyment.

Surprised nobody seemed to pick up on the headtracking being shown in an actual race, unlike GT5 only supporting it in Time Trials which is rather useless.

Gut wrenching...

And, in a twist of fate, I decided to finally get Fanatec to address some issues I have when the wheel is in a cold room (very cold as in 10 degrees in winter)..

They where great in getting me to send it back, and did a lightening turn around to get it back the same week, but whilst it seems they've cured the annoying issues I had, they've buggered it up such that it isn't recognised over USB by any PC or the PS3.. :(

But shockingly, their support is failing badly, 2 weeks, 10 attempts to contact them via various methods (obviously including the official support method) and absolutely nothing..

I'm getting pretty mad at them, and the relevance to this thread is, I hope MS do anything to sort out the wheel situation, we need more manufacturers with half decent wheels on the 360!
