Forza 4

Maybe you and some others should turn off your attitude before replying.
Please re-read what I said as I commented that even if a drop to 30fps happens its not necessarily a bad thing regards the gameplay. PGR4 dropped to 30fps as many other enjoyable racing games run at 30fps too.

I put forward that Turn 10 may spend more time delevoping for Kinect support/features in the game over other things that would or indeed could be more in line with what general racing fans would rather have. So yes just like FM3 wider audience appeal may be one of their main priorities than making the franchise more focused on actual racing or simulation elements. To me that development is a possibility in gimping to an extent gamers from possibly having a deeper or really satisfying racing game. For instance will Turn 10 also focus more on wheel users or hardened race fans to also enchance their experience? Thats a valid point is it not and the additional cars is one such improvement that is really welcomed.

So read this as an opinion and speculation its NOT forcing anything on anyone...

Turn 10 stated Kinect will work on FM4 at 60fps during E3 last year before Kinect even launched. Digital Foundry state Kinect runs at 30fps and while they mention that the Kinect Sports title works at 60fps in one of their articles Kinect will only operate itself at 30fps. So Kinect may be limited in its performance and have a degree of latency or only work on certain play modes within the game. My whole point is with many not interested much in it how will it change the games development and to what extent?

I hope all that isnt the case and Im over-reacting but its gut feeling as FM4 may just be a tweaked more of the same with Kinect features. I would love to see FM4 really lift the franchise and be not just a good little racing game but a spectacular one that really appeals to the little kids yet not at the expense of neglecting true racing fans.

Tl;dr

Have a suspension, posting this is a bannable offense.

I thought after his last toy throwing episode that we would have a Latte free FM4 thread. Oh well.

Dan Greenawalt is probably going to like his own game, and say good things about it at E3. You should prepare yourself for this!

You have spent much more £££££ than anyone else to play FM4, so your opinion is better than others about the game.

It isn't pushing the genre forward for the sim racers.

(Insert game here).......... has ( insert feature here).......... and FM4 doesn't.

You're all a bunch of *******! I'm leaving this forum and never coming back!!!!

There you go, no need for you to post here again Mr Latte.

I honestly don't know why you are here though.

You constantly ripped FM3 apart before and after release, you have an unhealthy dislike for T10, yet you are still coming into the Forza threads.

Why can't you see that the Forza games just aren't for you?

That's exactly what it is going to be, so you might as well stop all this.

Do you see a pattern here? The thread is not about me is it?

I didn't see you arguing with avec on post 38 with him sharing similar thoughts/concerns about Kinect. Anytime I say something Im handpicked and attacked usually by yourself.

Im here to talk about FM4 not talk about myself. Your the one keeps bringing things up and stirring me, in fact Im certain you enjoy doing it. Maybe you should concentrate on keeping discussions to regards the game unlike your last three posts.

Others including me have concerns and hopes for what the game may have.

I expect this to be even more of a let down than Forza 3 was.
Actually I disagree, it looks to make several improvements and be a bigger upgrade over 3 than 3 was over 2. Mainly making more fundamental gameplay enhancements and improved fantasy tracks. Of course that's if the "Leaked" video content is genuine/confirmed.

More Cars
More Tracks
Improved graphics:
Aero Wings, Exhaust Backfires, Speed/Crash Blurring and Better Cockpits
Refined physics
Finally 16 car races
More online features

It's going to be a good game, how good and how big of a step forward is the question.
Also saying their goal is best looking game in 2011 is quite a tall order or bold claim.

The graphics don't really concern me, to my eye FM3 is easily good enough, sure some of the car cockpits need work (and it would be really nice if all of the R class cars have working displays) What I'm really hoping for is some basic stuff that will actually lift this from the sterile experience where every race takes part on a clear, dry day at 2 pm. To be honest If I can drive Le Sarthe as the sun goes down I'll be in seventh heaven.

Fingers crossed.

I'm not too fussed by having any amazing graphical leaps, just as you say some tweaked cockpits and slightly improved graphics..

As for time of day/night/weather, it looks awkward if not done very well (I was distinctly underwhelmed by it's rivals implementation of night/weather) but some games like F1 2010 (rain) and NFS Shift 2 (Night) show that it can be made to look half decent, but whether that fits in with 60fps at all, I'm not sure..

To be honest, any claims of awesome graphics in that 'internal video' really would only be referring to the 'car exploration' parts I imagine, and I'm sure it wasn't meant for public consumption (Although they have a history of over exaggerating their claims), I hope no one is expecting the in-game racing graphics to be anything but a (hopefully) nice evolution of FM3..

Agreed !! Forza needs some weather elements added ...

I'd rather have day/night or at least some measure of time included, or cloud movement, or whatever. I absolutely hate driving Sedona reverse with that chicane before the long back straight where you literally can not see the track for the sun. It drives me mental.

I share the concerns about F4 and development time being give to kinect!

F3 was a flawed game and GT5 has a better physics engine but with some work on the physics, braking and track accuracy it would be fairly easy for F4 to leap ahed of GT5 but you get the feeling they are trying to make it different to F3 and not make it less arcady to appeal to the niche that is us lot i suspect.

However what i really want are more tracks and less of the silly races on the tight and twisty stages where in reality you wouldnt get huge cars trying to race - hill climbs etc against the clock would be vastly better!

Guaranteed buy for me but i really do fear for it :(

Changable conditions would be nice but not just weather or time of day. Somebody else commented earlier about having more variation as a good step forward.

I think Shift 2 even with all its own issues really did an excellent job with damage, broken bits of car wreckage on track, marbles and lots of visual effects to heighten the drama/excitment. The night racing is quite tense too.

It just seems all the rage at the moment with every major developer adding visual effects with racing games in particular. Dirt 3 seems to be doing more of the same as well. Of course for T10 they seem to label this to aparently excite I guess 13 year olds with their (Movie Trailer Voice Man) "Hollywood Effects" branding.

Cant wait for E3.

GT5 is about 100GB on blu-ray including patches

FM4 will have to come on like 20 DvD's (5gb a DvD roughly) to have a Feature set like GT5 plus more stuff.:p

I can't see how they are going to do it:confused:

Why don't you just play grown up PC sims out of interest?

You seem to keep wanting a console racing sim that is perfect, it's not going to happen this gen, you can get more of what you want in the PC market and it would save you wasting time and money with console racers.

Do I? MMMM, whats all the fascination with me in this thread?

Well Id just like to see general progression like other developers are doing.
Dirt 3 is an example, their going back more to rally roots and incorporating classic rally cars giving fans more again what they want but also seem to have really new creative ways to enjoy the game too. Visually looks to be a great little game as well.

I havnt played PC games in many years but I am considering buying a new PC for 3x1 Eyefinity. Would also like to experience HD3D via DLP projector in the future for my current ongoing cockpit build. Not so much for iracing etc but to enjoy the multiplatform games getting the benefits available on PC.

TBH I game more for fun/entertainment than wanting true sim experience. Does this answer your question friend?
I suggest if you/others want personal correspondence directed at me then you do it via PM not in this thread, thanks.
