Forza 4

/\ This. Most concerning, 4th release of the franchise and possibly still the sterile tracks with no time or weather changes...

We don't know everything yet, but lets not forget what we do know for sure..

- Community Clubs
- Community Rivals
- 12-16 cars offline/online
- New visual effects (more visceral/more hollywood :(, camera shake, more car movement etc)
- New physics
- Autovista mode with 10 hours of challenges etc
- New World tour mode
- Head tracking in all modes
- Heavy Top gear influence including the track
- More smoke/effects
- More localised damage system
- Big improvement in photomode
- More tracks
- More cars

Regarding 'sterility', the tracks have had a make over, more grass, much much better lighting engine (All new, with help from Hollywood)..

Whilst rain and night would always be a welcome side addition to the game, if it meant sacrificing 60fps, and was still a bit half-assed as has been seen in other games, I'd rather not bother, leave it to the 30fps more arcade racers like Dirt3/F1 2011 etc.. they are stunning in that regard..

There is a dilema, the more casual market tends to love the OTT viscerality of games like Shift 2 (I'm not labelling anyone here of that), they went to great lengths to make add all this stuff, but it's 100% at odds with the more hardcore that want to race, and find 90% of the visual fluff gets in the way of it.. I can't stress how much better Shift 2 was when the PC Mods dialled down/turned off most of the effects..

The b-roll footage shows one section where the camera is shaking around, the E3 promo showed a car rolling and glass exploding everywhere with lots of dirt/smoke kicked up..

I'd wait a while and see what the score is before writing it off, and even then, there are plenty of games that are going in the direction you want, so you'll have plenty of other games to look at.

Nicely put Sir, I probably came across overly negative there - not to say I won't be preordering in a heartbeat but it would be nice to see, certainly this and F1 2011 are going to fill all of my console racing needs between them.

i really hoped they would put rain in and dry to wet races.

also wondering how head tracking would work.

you turn your head to see out a window but now you cant see the tv because youve turned your head.

For me part of attraction to games is their technical ability.

It seems the new lighting engine from EPIC has allowed them to do so much more.
Upto 16x cars is a major hike, combined with all the graphical touches and improvements in details, animations of wings while maintaining the 60fps which I honestly didn't think would be possible.

FM4 looks to really showcase the X360 and Kinect are really capable of offering.

If you want to play the game at it's best however you will need this new wheel.
ISR have posted early pics of the new Fanatec/Forza branded wheel.

This is not a finished model but early prototype.

Hmmm, wheel has potential but feel as usual it will be a limited run at a high niché price. They need to mass produce something decent that's ~£100 to make Forza an accessible platform for people who like the immersion and have a keen interest in realism but aren't hardcore to the point of spending £400+ and then the rest on a cockpit/stand etc.... which is many I feel/hope.

I'd be happy with a decent wheel that works on the 360 and PC, but it seems such a thing doesn't exist without spending hundreds and hundreds.

A problem is that the Microsoft Licenscing alone aparently costs close to $50 per wheel. Your not going to find a quality X360 wheel being made these days for 100 quid. Logitech are evidence of this with not manufacturing a budget multi platform wheel.

People will buy a HDTV at several hundred pounds to enhance their games, for a racing fan some justify the cost of wheels that are quite expense based on the amount of games they will get enjoyment from and what extra fun it will bring. Its hard to swallow but most people that do get good wheels are happy with them over the controller experience.

Answer the question, smartarse.

The sad answer is, there is no official 360 wheel anymore, as it was, it wasn't too bad, just a bit poor build quality wise, I went through 2 myself, but as a wheel, with a little modding, it was actually pretty OK.

All we have now is this silly new Wireless Speed Wheel thing that isn't a wheel, it's a Mario Kart Wii esque motion sensing U shaped affair that obviously doesn't have pedals and zero force feedback..

If it's more accurate than a pad with regards to steering then I'm willing to give it a chance.

I'll probably get one from the laminated book of dreams then take it back if it's rubbish!
