Forza 4

This is something I've always been unable to fathom in Forza. Is it not more sensible to keep leaderboard lap times exclusive to the hot lap/time trial game modes instead of allowing someone's mid-race lap times to count? Other games manage it fine.

Had a go on the Rivals mode tonight with the wheel quite enjoyable, it seems more like the game I was expecting FM3 to be.

You would be very lucky to get a certified time during a race.

I usually easily manage it against the AI. Generally the slipstream on F3 flags the uncertify at over 100mph and following distances of less than 250ft.

Multiplayer events are slightly different if everyone is evenly matched. That said I still have some top 1000 times that were done in organised multiplayer races, even around the Nordschliefe.

Quicklook at Giantbomb.

Quite probably includes some swearing, so make your mum sit in the next room while you're watching it.

Interesting point from the video... Remember how you levelled up cars in FM3, and that gave you discounts on certain upgrades? In FM4 you have the affinity thing instead, which is to a manufacturer, rather than to individual cars, and when you level up your affinity to a certain level upgrades for those cars are discounted by 100%... so they're free.

Footage of the Infineon course and the Nurburgring GP circuit in there, too.

so..i looked around for wheels..
those new Fanatec's looks really good - but not for my pocket unfortunately :(
i think i will go for used x360 original wheel, have no other choice i guess..
so - if someone wants to sell it (not for crazy price of course) i will buy it from you..

Something along these lines.

Unicorn cars are cars that appear in the game but cannot be purchased through in-game means. There are only 2 ways to get Unicorn cars:

Bid on one in the Auction House. Occasionally Turn 10 will put up a few copies of each unicorn car for players to bid on, but these cars will go for more credits than any other cars, sometimes exceeding 100 million CR.

Win a Turn 10 sponsored contest.

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why you get a warning when you draft? I thought that is a crucial point of motorsports? Especially at the higher end of the classes R2 etc!

It makes zero sense to me!

It makes extra less sense now you get one of those meter things for drafting. Can't remember if it was in rivals or quick race but coming up behind a car I would get a score for drafting as I would passing or taking a turn well.

I don't get why people can't understand that leaderboard times are supposed to be based on a level playing field.

Yes, drafting is good, but it gives an unrepresentative lap time when you're attempting to compare things fairly. If you've got the skills you'll get your top 1% time with or without drafting, right?

Re: unicorn cars, Turn 10 have said there will be more in FM4, which makes sense given they've got an achievement centred around them.

I don't care if I don't have a wheel for this. I'm tempted to just play it with my penis anyway!!

Thanks mate, but this has been posted several times :)

So if I have the Lambo Superleggera and the 430 Scuderia from the VIP car pack in Forza 3, I have them in Forza 4, and they are unicorn cars in Forza 4?

That's pretty cool.

Word has it that importing any of the FM3 unicorns is enough to get the unicorn hunter achievement...

I think I have the VIP car pack on FM3, so I might grind out a bit more cash and pick up one of those unicorns.

I tried beating you time on Rivals last night... couldn't get anywhere near it :p

My first impressions of the demo from a 15 minute blast last night. At first I was "meh" but after turning all of the driver aids (bar ABS) off and switching to the bumper cam I was in love!

I'm pretty awful at the moment with handfuls of seconds being lost each lap as I spin up the rear tyres coming out of every bend but it feels great to drive.

My only gripe is on the rivals mode where sometimes it looks like you have a legitimate bit of track to use but the game decides that crossing some hatchings = being off track... I'm racing, not on my blooming driving test :p
