Forza 4

The AI still brake unnecessarily. On certain points on a lot of tracks that are incredibly easy to flat out, they will slam on, causing me to crash into them. Irritating, I was hoping they would fix this.

Is this game worth buying?

Fake edit - I lie. Looks pretty mint, my house mate bough it but ive only played the demo. Think ill go give it a buy. Far too many people in this thread are rambling on about how amazing it is i feel left out!!

This game is great! I really like the affinity with the manufacturers... it's good to get upgrades for free at 100% discount. Save's the credit's for buying the expensive cars in the first place. Sick game!

Pretty sure that car is a unicorn in FM4 so I don't think it can be gifted. The only way you can get hold of it is by winning it in the auction house, and that's the kind of car that goes for tens of millions.

There must be two versions from what Ive read. A unicorn but then just a bonus car if you already owned it in FM3?

(I did own it in FM3, but my save game is gone from my Xbox) :(

Yeah I've found that a lot. It's the only thing that makes passing them tricky. They brake initially at the right place, but then slow right down for the corner. The worst thing is they also brake again at, or just after, the apex causing you to go into the back of them.

Clsoe racing with them is nearly impossible.

I think I've weakened. I need to get this game, so I've started bidding for the Limited Edition version on the bay. Let's be honest, the standard version just won't do!

Make sure the DLC codes are unregistered, otherwise you just get a shiny box.

It's amazing how games still can't produce decent AI that will at the very least, drive round a track properly, brake at the proper times and generally be 'fast', without artificial speed boosts and other hidden features to make them 'competitive'.

Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 2 had pretty competitive and interesting AI. They weren't the best of course, but they could pass cleanly, would drive consistently and fast throughout the race and it's one of the few games where you had that genuine feeling of gradually catching a faster car up, bit by bit, lap by lap.

In Forza you tend to just gain massively at strange points in the circuit even if you're driving at an average pace, since the AI cars like to brake at odd times and take corners slower than you.

That is the thing that irritates me the most. I will gain 1 second lead per lap just from one turn on the entire circuit, just because the AI brake for no good reason. Otherwise, they would be able to keep up at a solid pace, especially on R3 class onwards. Saying that though, I have had a few good races with the AI so far.

This is simply due to developers putting graphics over the AI in terms of how much CPU performance each is allowed to use.

GTR2 for the PC has excellent AI cars for example, very challenging to pass but good and fair when racing close.

Also, I'm pretty sure the FM3 AI paths have been copied and barely modified as the AI brake at the same stupid places around Maple Valley and Sebring. They've still also not fixed the bug whereby if the AI is off the racing line to pass someone as you rewind, the AI will seem to 'forget' why it's off the line, suddenly swerve back on to it, regardless of how fast they're going and usually end up in a huge crash.

To me it doesn't really matter though as I mostly play the game online, or hotlapping on the leaderboards.
