Forza 4

If I could find a nice clean group of racers I would love to get into online racing. Unfortunately all my experiences of online console racing has been disappointing.

Just got kinect and my ms wheel set up for the first time, it's incredibly immersive in the cockpit with all the hud options off!

The kinect head tracking is very subtle, when you naturally look at the apex as you corner it makes the experience come alive.

Been doing a bit of rivals this evening... Servers have been up and down, it's a nightmare.

I was having a go at the 1 mile R3 drag race in this month's rivals. Had a go with the Agera but just can't get a decent start in it. End up having to bump it into third gear before I get any traction by which time my rival is long gone. How the hell can I get some power down without just wheel spinning like crazy?

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but..... traction control? I find it impossible to drive some of the R3 cars without it.

I've tried that, but it's still really hard to get a good launch, and I also get the feeling that it then impairs the acceleration further into the run, but I'm not sure on that.

Sometimes you just have to look elsewhere to find people to race with :) The public hoppers have been pretty dire ever since the game came out. As for the kinect head tracking i just found it too gimmicky to really get into using and makes the transition between pad & wheel where i use different camera views extremely annoying. I generally only run on the wheel when using the r1/x cars where the corners are past so quickly tilting your head slightly doesn't help much. :D

All i seem to do is rivals in this game - love it.
Had a go at the monthly "Climbing Kaido" - Fujimi hill climb with the Suzuki SX-4, awesome track, awesome car, managed to beat a couple of rivals with a time of 4:39:33 odd, i know i can go lower.
That mile drag "Shortest Mile", i used a tuned veyron that went really fast, then i tried an Ultimate Aero and managed 22secs, manual with TCS on.
Also tried the "Lone Driver", weaving in and out cones, quite tricky, managed to get up to 2nd in my rivals list with an Audi TT with 3:12:466 but nowhere DReederOcUK's ridiculaous time of 2:37 !!! :o
Gonna be onto the "One lap thriller" and "50's road champion" tonight !!
Anyone please add me, the more rivals the better :D

Thats me. :)

I found the Lotus Elan to be perfect for that Rival race, nimble and nippy, its just stringing a clean lap together that makes it a quick time, that said someone on my list is over 5seconds fast than me, so not only a clean, but also a very quick lap.

:)

I don't think i had the option of choosing a Lotus, i remember my first thought was, " ah i'll use a Lotus" but couldn't find one, tried a mini first which was ok but the Audi was much better.
Perhaps i have to be a certain level for a Lotus.

Had another go on Rivals tonight, it's so addictive! The 50s road champion challenge is ace, was persevering with the Ferrari 250 but eventually had to cave and use the Aston, the Ferrari would work well as a drift car :p

Don't go writing off the D-Type Jag if you haven't tried it yet. Just stay in first gear for 80% of the lap ;)
I've added the Maserati 300(?) to the club garage for another option. Might go give it a bash shortly as drifting the 50's cars is fun fun fun!

http://insidesimracing.tv presents our review of the Xbox 360 Wireless Speedwheel and Kinect for use with driving games on the xbox. The 360 Speedwheel is the entry level wheel for many gamers looking for more out of their driving sims. Will the Speedwheel hold up to the standards of the ISR team? Kinect for the Xbox turns your body into the controller. In the case of Forza 4 it turns your hands into the steering wheel and allows for head tracking and speech recognition. We will see how this works both driving and navigating through games.

Hi fellow Forza Forumites. Long time no post.

I have now got myself a brand new 250Gb Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza 4 and a new Gamertag to boot.

My first impressions.

Pretty much the same as Forza 3 apart from a few new tracks and cars. Over all its looking good.

The menu is a little bit awkward to navigate as I was used to the Forza 3 layout. I am sure I will get used to it soon enough after a lot of play time. Once I get my Gold account up and running (I need to borrow some ones credit card for the £6 for 3 months offer) I will be running around getting some on-line racing going.

If you remember last year I set up a few Time Trials which were successful and a team Championship which unfortunately didn't really get going as I had some personal issues I had to sort out and couldn't dedicate time to it.

If it's ok with you lot would you like to partake in a TopGear Test Track time trial using the one and only Kia C'eed? I am willing to set it all up for us all. That's if it hasn't already been done of course.

Your thoughts.

The time-trial or more specifically the Top Gear time trial is already done for us, by way of the Rivals mode.... but, I'm all for the idea of setting up custom Time Trial events. :)
In fact that would be an awesome feature Turn10 could add to the game, allowing the Club leaders to create custom rivals events for there club members.

Hiya gimp, wb!

I'm mostly racing the ford/chevy stock cars online at the moment. Usual amount of idiots looking to wreck every race but once you've persevered and favourited/preferred a few decent gentlemen drivers you tend to end up in the clean races more often than not.
All I need is a decent tune as I can only achieve midfield times. I did manage to come from quarter of a lap down, after a 10 car pile-up, on 13th spot to finish 4th (taking that place on the last turn) of a 10 lapper round Sedona Speedway yesterday which was quite intense. Get some polite racers letting you know which side they'll be passing on (as the speed difference between a top tune and midfield tune is 1-2 seconds+ depending on circuit).

Now to learn how to set up a nascar car correctly!

I'm up for some time trials. As has been said, the SIARPC one is already there on rivals, but some other ones would be good, though obviously we'll be back to honesty and possibly screenshots rather than being able to rely on the rivals scoreboard.
