Forza 6 announced

I found that your own car seems really quiet when in the pack making it hard to hear when to shift.

Did anyone else have pre-install problems?

Set it off last night, it said it was at 68% when I booted up just now but ready to start, then when I went to start it told me it needed an update, and now it's stuck at 1%! Argh,

@Kona, I heard that during a rival race, but I was in the pits. I'm assuming it's an echo but it was annoying.

Can't continue my career as the total progress is 39% installed.. Track by track, car by car.

Having a lot of fun though, bought a GMC van and tuned it, expected SPEED, did not get speed.

I had a quick go on this lastnight, really liking it so far.

It was a bit annoying not being able to set the controller deadzones/buttons until after the first 4 races.

I started off with 39 cars, so will tune those up before i start buying other cars.

Hoping to get out of the bottom league before the game releases, it looks like the first league is up until the 14th, with two running after that.

I've made it to Tier 9 already, so will see what the rewards are now.

I had a few games last night and here's what I thought.

My first impressions, as they were with the demo, is that the graphics are a little disappointing, it's difficult to describe but it is very pixelated and when playing in cockpit view the brightly coloured/flashing edges are a little distracting. The indy car track from the demo is really bad, the fences and tracks look like a blocky mess. Even the 2D cars in the menu look like something from the last gen. Having said that some tracks look a lot better and it is very smooth. The 3D cars and photo are much better and the photo's you can produce are really nice.

Racing in the wet is good and the puddles really impact your driving as they should. However they are always in the same place and stay the same size no matter how much is rains or if other cars splash through them just before you, a dynamic rain/weather system would have been nice as although this looks nice it just isn't a proper dynamic system.

I had a few races online and that worked fine although I've not played enough to really make a judgement on the overall multiplayer experience - thats something for the weekend.

The AI Drivatar is OK but very inconsistent no matter what difficulty you choose, sometimes you can find you'll win by a mile or on other occasions you'll get a drivatar that is just simply way faster than any other car no matter how well you drive and that can happen even on the lower difficulty. This can mean that you don't get the close fought races you'd like and therefore a lot of races can be either boring or frustrating.

The events, although I can see why they did them, can seem out of place and spoil the flow, especially some which are just boring..

I still don't see the point in the Mod Cards, just seems like something that's been added for the sake of adding something but I may get used to them, the random payouts are also questionable I think.

Overall I'd say I like it but having been playing Project Cars on the PS4 over the recent months this just doesn't have the same impact as it once did, it's visually no where near as good and now feels a little to arcade in comparison. If you like Forza then you'll like this but the competition has taken the shine off it.

I'm very impressed so far. Seems like a lot of the things I didn't like on Forza 5 have changed for the better.

The night racing doesn't change too much but it's quite a nice addition. The rain however is great! I had made a 500bhp Supra for one of the series and stared on a dry track and it was quite an easy win. Afterwards moving to Brands Hatch in the rain the same car was a real handful. I slowly moved up the pack but in the end only finished 4th. It was one of the most fun races I've had so far though!

The rain is also interesting in mutliplayer. I was on a server with the 4wd Audi RS3 and drove a dry track and my car was noticeably slower all round than other peoples tuned cars. The next track was a wet one and it seemed like my car was one of the fastest on track so I think the rain really does spice things up a bit!

Little things like the new menu system which is easy to use and well presented is a nice change and the much more responsive interface and menu options are good. For example when adding parts to a car in Forza 5 sometimes there was a second or two delay which is happily sorted now.

Another little thing I really like is the way the showcase and special events are separate to the main career. You can either do them as they unlock or choose which one you want to do later. I find this so much better than Forza 5 where they were just lumped somewhere in the 10 or so races it would want you to do in each career section.

And much bigger improvements like the handling of the cars. I would say it feels very similar to Forza 4 in that even with all the assists off and 'Simulation' steering the game plays great with the controller and it really feels like you can push the cars to the limit.

On Forza 5 I always felt the quicker I tried to go the more I would crash or get worse laps time and it seemed like a steering wheel was needed really. This feels really different in a good way!

So far I've noticed a big difference in the AI too. For the first time in a Forza game they move out of the way for you! Was quite surprised by that. Driving the Tesla it has amazing initial acceleration and the cars on the grid were moving to each side allowing me to drive up the middle at the start of a race.

I've also found it does seem a bit more random how fast the AI drive. In some races I can be miles ahead and some struggle to get 3rd place. However it feels like a good change to be honest because the AI don't all drive the same as each other.

In one race I was following another car and trying to overtake and all the while there was a car right behind me trying to overtake me. In the older Forza games I think both the car in front and behind of me would have been following exactly the same lines, however the one in front was keeping very tight seemingly to defend his position and the one behind was going very wide like he was trying to slingshot past both of us. It felt like I was racing real players rather than AI.

Also the AI does tap your car occasionally but overall seems very well behaved and happy to alter their line to not crash into you.

So far so good! Not found much that I don't like really though I've only done a couple of races in multiplayer so far.

Project cars still lacks the polish this has, I've been enjoying it. More so than any Forza since number 2.

Project cars looks terrible in comparison.

Better go to specsavers :)

I am comparing it to PCars on the PS4 though, I haven't played the Xbone version but I know it wasn't supposed to be as good. I'm not saying Forza looks bad though (although the indy track is shocking) but it looks really pixelated, low res (even if its not), the lighting isn't as good as Project Cars, it doesn't have dynamic weather etc.

It does run smooth though and has a polished presentation, I'll no doubt sink lots of hours into it but it certainly imo is not impressive in the visuals department. Either that or I was expecting more.

10th if you bought the Ultimate Edition, and due on the 18th (I think) for the standard and regular, may be the 15th not sure. I've seen two dates.

Yeah I've seen 2 dates mentioned also..

The Ultimate Edition is Digital also @ £81.99 so an expensive way to get it early but worth it if you like Forza :) although I would have preferred to have the retail version to go with my collection of other Forza games :(

You who are all absolutely messing your pants over this game, are you playing with steering wheel and pedals?

I just finished the demo and nearly fell into a coma. I could only see this game being awesome with a wheel and pedals.

So do you lot play with a wheel and pedals? Is it possible to get a decent wheel and pedals for about £100?
