Forza Horizon 3 just shown at E3

Shame Microsoft are struggling with these issues with a new release, sure they had something similar with gears of war, hopefully they will improve quickly and maybe steam was like this at the start.

Think I will wait for the demo to be released
 
Ah, have you seen the cash cow that Microsoft have developed with this game!!! Seriously, they've been so used to using their exclusive titles to take advantage of console gamers with expensive "DLC" that bringing this exclusive title to PC is highlighting the sand paper wrapped around their thingy.

Standard Edition = $60
- standard price for games now, still pricey but whatevz

All Star Pass = $10
- track cars for open world use

Car Pack = $10
- price per car pack with seven cars, sold six times a month

Car Pass = $30
- season pass for car packs

VIP Pass = $20
- the season pass to get all car packs (Car Pass)
- season pass to get all exclusive events

Ultimate Edition = $100
- all passes
- play the game four days before release

Expansion Pass = $35
- even if you've bought the Ultimate Edition you still need to buy it

So you're essentially forced to buy the Ultimate Edition for $100 as that makes the most sense if you want cars and events instead of playing the campaign and the odd multiplayer race. Even then you'll be paying $30 for expansions. Who knows if these will ever go on sale.

Seems like they're forgetting that console games can be sold secondhand and with PC's we're so locked in that we can't get any cash back but we're stuck with paying the same price.

Think I'll just wait this one out because I can't justify this kind of cash nor do I want to promote it. Sad really because this is my favourite genre and the game is most likely the racing game of the year but $130 for a game is disgusting.

Actually it turns out that the version of Windows 10 you need to install is a 'Preview' edition which will not be available through regular Windows Update!

You need to go to the insider website to download and install it.

How to Get The Latest Build of Windows 10
Navigate to https://insider.windows.com and click Get Started.
Check the box next to the program agreement, check a box that specifies your area of interest and click OK.
Click the Start button.
Select Settings.
Click Update & security.
Click Advanced options.
Click Get started.

Anyone not on the ball with updating windows to the latest version will hit a wall. I keep on top of things so I'm generally OK. it looks like some form of compensation is going to be offered for lack of paid for features. Even though it's 48 hours nearly and no fix for Vip stuff.

Game looks and plays fab if your pc isn't a potato.
 
I can only complete a race without a CTD if I set the graphic presets to low. Otherwise glitch and crash. Driver issue ?

Get the game early... Wait till it's fixed. On a positive note I have enjoyed the gameplay and I can see myself playing this a lot when it does work. I haven't played a game start to finish for many months. Disappointed then, but hopefully, ultimately satisfied.
 
Really liking this. In terms of this VIP problem, I'm not experiencing it at all, I have all the VIP stuff and the cars etc. And I've not had to fix anything.
 
Just got a refund and repurchased, DLC now working :) Spoke with a guy Jayce C on their support thingy.

Also, immediately went in-game to check it was working and used my 3 saved wheelspins, got a Focus RS Horizon Edition and Ferrari FF right after!! Don't know if it's rare to get a car but I'm feeling super lucky right now. Also, it's working the VIP thing.
 
Really depends who you get on support, the two I spoke to earlier said they weren't refunding or other nonsense even though I provided links and pictures of forum posts resolving the issue.

I'll try again tomorrow, I'd like to know how I will be compensated if I can't get a refund.

And I'll update the OP tomorrow with gamertags
 
Ahh I know it's a real shame, hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later. Try again now, the wait queue was 0 and this guy who did mine was sympathetic and clearly knew about the issue first hand.

It has tainted the release though, but it is a good game when all said and done and I don't think the current MS Store reviews are reflective of the game, but I fully appreciate that it's not a cheap game and you expect it to work. I'm not surprised metacritic or MS hasn't 'released' the game for PC yet...it'd be Batman Arkham Knight all over again.
 
VIP update.

Looks like a fix is incoming. I put my name forward, got an email to help solve the issue but I was in a game and didn't see the email come on live. Oh well least it looks like good news.

I do have issues with handling however. I'm using my G27 which is I think is the issue, I think a 360/XBone pad would be easier... however I just find myself getting flung quite miserably into tank slappers. Even at 30pmh and I'm having to rag the wheel to cztch but by which point, might as well restart the race.

I also cannot drift, at all. Sustaining just a simple drift in a normal untuned car, impossible. just tank slappers or spins. There's no middle ground. Again, think a pad is needed. Or a day trying to work out a drift setup on a car :/
 
I have been playing using my Xbox as the pc version has caused two BSOD's:eek: Don’t think the PC has had a BSOD before this, it's a real pain as it works great most of the time, apart from the VIP thing. It looks to be an AMD driver file that causes it but?

What stage does it allow you to start a club? Option seemingly greyed out at the moment and I'm about level 20 I think.

Soon as I can do it or if you can already then fire away.

Anyway enjoying the game, it's very arcade which I don't mind. AI are a bit pants but it's a well put together game. Rewards for crashing suits me as in this I seemingly do it quite a bit.

Got a few decent cars but I want to drive things like the arbarth 500 and fun little cars more than your Ferraris etc... I prefer the off road stuff more than the track.

Got about £1.7m so far and not done loads apart from collect xp signs, visit vistas. Not even setup my second festival yet.

I'm gonna push for 100% in this and maybe full achievements. Hopefully we can get a few people together and create some fun cross country races.

Can't wait for the VIP issue be fixed on pc so I can go back on that instead of Xbox.
