Forza Horizon 3 just shown at E3

On my main PC the performance is super smooth all the time but it CTD or BSOD's, not all the time. Have had games of over 3 hours with no problems but it’s just not reliable.
I have tried it on my second PC which has:
1440p@60Hz display
4790 cpu
32GB RAM
RX 480 8GB
It runs ok, a few drops in fps but looks great until it crashes to desktop, it even crashed my rooter(twice)lol. I don’t know what MS has done with this but i will stick to playing on my Xbox.

I've found that the environment texture quality has the largest effect on any stuttering or rubber banding. Setting that to low and everything else to high nets 60fps 90% of the time with very little stutter outside the city on an OC GTX970 @ 1440p.

How do you sell HE cars are any cars? Got a HE one but won't use it.

I generally only keep about 10 cars as no use for the others. I'll have one of each class for the road then a few buggies, off roaders.

Most fun I've had so far is with the Nomad.

I'm level 41 and only just opened up my second festival. I've destroyed all 159 xo and quick travel boards plus discovered all vistas.

30k xo boards are great for levelling.

bemaniac360 please could I get an invite to the OCUK club?

Should I keep hyperthreading off still or turn it back on yet? I'm on 6c12t

I got a barn find yesterday a pretty iconic car which you would be mad to not know.

Well the aussie bloke said "I need a minute to collect my thoughts" - well 6 mins later after I got bored of waiting I realised the game had actually frozen haha.

I'll be on tonight, need buy my cossie and get modding.

Loving the game so far although it runs great every so often I get massive slow down/ stuttering. It seems random with no reason for it. For this reason I'm enjoying it on Xbox more at the moment. Saving up for a 650S :)

this game really is very strange regarding how it performs.

I can load the game up and have 60fps-80fps, play for an entire evening, go to the forests, outback, races, even the race intro screens where you see the cars line up for the race it stays above 60fps. Yet the next time I load the game, in the same areas my frames will be between 30fps and 50fps, in exactly the same spots in the world as before, and the race intro and outro screens with the cars will now be a stuttery mess around 25fps. I can then try and restart the game a few times, when I load into the game in the Exhibition place it'll load in at under 40fps for 3 or 4 tries, then all of a sudden I'll see 80fps and then proceed to play for the next 3 or 4 hours with frames never dropping below 60fps.

I really don't understand what's happening with the game, it's amazing how the game plays massively differently depending if you get a lucky load in or not. I look at the CPU usage and none of my cores ever go above 50%, it just seems the game is so random regarding the performance.

It's a shame though, the game is a lot of fun underneath the glaring issues.

Decided doing some unorthodox racing in the heavies this evening with Hotdog, so much fun racing in different vehicles.

Always the same performance whenever I load up. Not seen much variability. It honestly sounds like there is a background program running occasionally. Worth running resource monitor to see what's causing it.

I've had similar issues, and with Apex too. I find the game runs great after a fresh boot, but it seems something in the background impacts it, I just don't know what. Yet.

I did notice my CPU is running 100% on core 1 and anywhere from 10 - 50% on the others.

Got back from my weekend away and had a good blast last night, great to see VIP's fixed as I was playing it on the XB1 so I didn't miss out on my rewards/bonus's.

I'e got a couple of XP boards left to collect - all the ones on the roofs of buildings etc. and one fast travel left. I confess I bought the treasure map via the XB dash on Friday. :o

Oh and add me to the list of people who haven't got the warthog yet either, despite redeeming my code, which now says its already been claimed.

Looks like DRM is the culprit behind the poor performance, might wait for them to resolve before I pull the trigger on this.

There does look to be a few memory leak issues, I've had it a few times now whereby performance will vary wildly, then turn into a stuttery, unplayable mess.

I've checked everytime this has happened and the game shows as using all 16gb of my memory. Only a restart of the machine fixes it.

I've also run into the barn find glitch where the game just seems to freeze, Hopefully all will be fixed soon.

On a better note I had my first jaw drop beauty moment, was cruising with a fellow overclocker yesterday. I Was chasing him through the hills in the old Focus Rs with the rally spec engine. It was just as the sun was setting during heavy rain, so loads of beautiful lighting & reflections, epic sounds from our cars, just perfect :D

Just bought the standard peasant version so will need to wait until tomorrow before I can try it!

Do UK purchased MS store games go live at midnight GMT on the day of release?

Invited, and keep HT turned off, it's about a 30% frame increase with it disabled. Hopefully they get round to optimising the game for better CPU usage.

So the PC version is riddled with issues? That's a shame.. as I don't have an xbox one and don't intend on getting one either.

Riddled is a bit strong. Mines crashed out 2 within 2 days of playing it - about 10 hours worth!

I've played 33 hours (not quite sure how I managed that!) without a single crash or significant issue. It's been running great at 4K too - just have MSAA switched off and most settings on high with a few on ultra and it's sticking at 60 almost all of the time - certainly feels much smoother than when I tried it on my Xbox.

It's just a shame that it isn't being so well-behaved for everyone :(
