Forza Motorsport 3 Car Skins Show Off Thread

i-bert, your photo's of the Airwaves BTCC and your Subaru are stunning (as are the designs!). Do you have a different method of retrieving the photo's? They look so much richer than all the others obtained via the website, as if they have a lot less compression?

No i just get them from the Forza sight.

you have way too much time on your hands :D

I think we need a proper tutorial on painting in a seperate thread, that video, whilst ok, just isn't informative, is that the method you are using i-bert?

I havn't seen the video. I use the grid on the logos and do the same on my PC.

All the logos are very high quality. You could have them the massive and they wouldn't lose quality. I think the left/ right side of the car came to 997 layers.:D

I had to condense some to be able to have them all on there.

care to demonstrate? - i mean the grid on your pc - screenie.

Also, another question whilst i'm on a roll, how are those of you who are taking action shots (mid air etc) taking them out of photo mode?

I use gimp and apply a grid. You can change the size of the grid to whatever you want. I then add markers every 5 spaces and then do the same on my Forza grid. Save it as a vinyl group so you can load it for others later.

Then its just a case of adding the shapes to match the one on you pc.

Hope this helps.

Great idea i-bert, was wondering how to get it done. I just done them all free hand and hope for the best when trying it. With this method im sure i can get some better designs done, ofcourse i have to get used to doing it this way :p

Good stuff, didn't think of applying a grid in photoshop or something to help align stuff. I've not got a tv card to get my 360 to display on my pc and don't really think it would be worth getting at the moment, so just playing with grid settings might be a nice compromise.

R3 Super Lap Days can be an interesting Tournie! :)

Nice one widget, did my own one of them on Forza 2 just without the Met badge as I couldn't be bothered. People still bought them all the time on auction though!

Yeah that Met badge is a right PITA to make, probably took me the best part of 3 hours as it is so detailed and mine came out at 278 layers. I will put the car on the storefront in the morning but I have been selling the Met badge just by itself and I have sold a few already. :)

Has anyone tried to copy a car they did in FM2 rapainted it in FM3 and can show a comparison between their FM2 and FM3 versions?

Hmm, seeing them side by side, I prefer my old alloys.. need to refind them. And finish the custom decals for the scoob, still got some manufacturer decals in there.
