I have chickens and foxes keep sniffing around there coup, whic has a high fence around it but has an open top, so foxes could climb over if they were that way inclined (its too big for a roof).

So does anyone have any sugestions for keeping fox away? A quick google shows i can buy a sonic repella, but they have mixed reviews, also i dont it to upset my cat.

what type of fence is it?

they won't be able to climb up chicken wire

my mum keeps chickens, but the foxes are way too scared of our sheepdog (who also loves to kill chickens)

A water scarecrow seems to be the only legal (or humane) way to stand a chance against them. Lion dung, urine etc never work long term.

One of these about the place usually does the trick. ;)

They really are buggers those foxes. I could post at least a dozen pics showing them decimating entire hen houses for the lulz, taking a family's cat, pulling a lamb out of its mother's vagina while it's being born... Show no mercy tbh.

Its a chicken wire fence but there is also some regular wooden fence, I wasnt sure if it would climb chicken wire or not, so thats reasuring.

Pehaps i should get a dog.

Thats not a bad idea, cheers

You'd be surprised just what a determined fox can do (and is there any other kind?). :( Make sure the fence is dug in at least a good foot or two else they'll easily burrow under it, and foxes scaling wire isn't unheard of though it's difficult.

As I said above, a dog really is a very good idea. Make sure it's a "proper" dog though like a lurcher or at least something with a bit of prey drive about it. Fair enough you might not want a dog that'll easily kill a fox in your yard (i.e. you may prefer a deterrent) but it takes a certain type of dog to "light up" at the sight of a fox anyway.

Try anything built by Mercedes Benz?

:( And to think my Mercedes got a compliment once.....

Chicken wire, if possible curved back on itself like a large letter J upside down, and dig it into the ground deep. Deep as possible. Failing that, as previously mentioned, mines, shotgun, lamps, claymores, C4.... etc :p
