Foxy!

You know i don't claim to be an expert in bmw's but when the previous 3 series came out i was like ,,thats it total perfection , now thats what i want to own, the the new 5 came out and was still up for it liked it from the off even when all were saying ekkk but the new 3 ,1 and the god for saken x3 thing happened.

Now i can be told to shut up and i don't pretend to know anything about driver experience with these cars. But still if the cash was mine i would not want to .

Get a grip BMW

never was a fan of the 1 series, looks too much like an astra, that monstrosity looks even worse, they've designed the sides and it was 5pm when it came to designing that back end, i mean, WTF, it has NO character whatsoever at the back. And also as has been mentioned, like the X3 it has no specific market.

they designed what was, at least from front and sides, an ok looking car, then thought "what the hell" and stuck a flat piece of metal on the back?

Is this just another technically pointless car built for no other reason than to occupy a price bracket?

Yes. It's called business. As with most industries, the lower end of the market is vastly more profitable than the higher end.

If that didn't have a BMW badge on it you'd swear it was from some ropey pacific rim car manufacturer. Looks like it's been styled using a spatula.

What were BMW doing attaching what looks like a scaled down Passat boot on the back of a 1 series? Can't say I like the looks at all.

As for possible purpose in life. Well I keep banging on about the weight of the 1 series being a lot lower than a 3. So my take is that if they do an M1, then it would probably be rather good to drive.

I think it looks ok actually!

And thats weird, I had a Mini (Rover) with the number plate "M MS" as well when I lived in Munich, and I'm sure the numbers were 4581.

(also note how the German numberplate layout looks nothing like the fake UK psuedo-Deutsch ones ;) )

Does anyone know if that flat bit on the rear is the final version or not? It looks like it's ben stuck there to hide something.

If it's the final version then all I can say is ":/".

I quite like the look for the 3 door 1 series and that coupe but if the rear is like that then something is seriously wrong.

The flat is called a 'boot.

The bit the arrow is pointing to, that flat vertical bit and the dodgy looking number plate surround.

Looks very Monaro-ish.

Just when you thought BMW couldn't make the 1 Series any worse, they surpass themselves.

Well done boys. A notchback 1 Series, just what the world needed.
