FPS Been done too much?

Only an hour? It takes a bit of getting used to - but it's a great game once you get the hang of it.

*Checks time played on Planetside 2... 11 days... damn*

It's a million times worse than COD though for the whole play2win thingie, new players are at a horrible disadvantage against the long timers and the wallet warriors. The game just isn't fun at lower levels and the rate at which it takes to get competitive gear whilst the whole time having the boot layed into you by people with 5x better equipment doesn't make end game attractive at all IMO.

I did download and try planetside and could'nt get what was going on it was promptly removed lol

Firefall actually looks really good thanks for that gonna install that tommorow night :D I just hope its not like LoL with regards buying stuff coz i've dropped 100quid on that already! (And hope you can stay in first person and not third) Love that game but im itching to get back to what im actually good at, shooting stuff lol

Metro Last Light,,
Well although it looks great etc, is really just another generic shooter under all the beautifull graphics.
As eye candy superb, but nothing all that special in terms of gameplay imo

The weapon upgrades really aren't a massive improvement over the default weapons - I still use the default weapons a fair amount as they are pretty balanced and still capable of killing high level players.

I don't think so, I still enjoy a good FPS game. They are like a favourite pair of shoes, nicely worn in and comfortable, you can just hop right in and get moving straight away without having to learn how to walk in them.

When it comes to "big new FPS" I have a couple of suggestions:
1) Look at older titles too, not just new ones. Lots of good games out there than can be picked up cheap in sales
2) The natural inclination is for people to only consider sequels (or games by a developer with a track record of making FPS), i.e. you cited BF4 and COD10 or whatever we're up to now. So hunt down some new FPS franchises from developers you've never heard of.

I agree than a new AAA WW2 FPS would be welcome - the most recent one I really enjoyed was BiA: Hell's Highway I think, which came out in 2008.

yup thats so HL2....

at least bring something new to the table it's not like theres a whole range of real world prototype guns they could model in the game...

that fake russian guy on youtube gets enough of them

I was referring to the fuss Crytek made over the inclusion of a crossbow in Crysis 3.

Aye I know, I mean't the massive advantage having the top tier armor gave as well as the weapons, when you run into somebody face to face who does 20% more damage and receives 50% less it can get frusterating. I ended up grabbing a sniper and sitting back because my skill advantage wasn't enough to hang with the raw extra power. Average gamer doesn't stand a chance. :p
