fps make me feel sick.

A lot of console ports have the field of vision that works fine when sat on a couch a few metres from a TV, but if played on a pc where this distance closes to about half a metre then it's like running around looking through a sniper scope all the time.

Motion sickness essentially, for the reasons explained above.

Tomb Raider/Rage (and many more) were unplayable for me unless I fancied feeling physically sick for the next few hours (or until I had the chance to close my eyes for a bit).

It's not so much the bob or sway for me, but more the FoV, which if you search around enough, you can usually find a FoV hack of some kind to help - apart from that the only other option is sitting further back.

it'll be your age :)

seriously, years ago i loved a fast paced FPS. then i had a phase where i'd get blinding headaches after an hours playing, and eventually playing made me feel like i was gonna throw up.

FOV is part of it, and certainly I always change it on any game i play where possible, but i simply don't play fast games anymore, or at least fast fps type games where the whole world view spins as you turn and jump all over the place.

Whats your monitor? Might be worth looking at that before you stop playing fps games.

Agree with this. You could just be suffering from screen flicker as you get older. For what it is worth, my missus gets terrible migraines using monitors and it can lead to low blood pressure and dizziness. It is a form of epilepsy.

All has been cured recently thanks to the new BenQ anti-flicker range. I bought her one of their cheaper variants and she is getting no dizziness at all now.

low fov :( i dont get why devs make it so low on many games.

most people use 80 now not 55 :p

The age thing really isn't true - for me when I was younger I could play no FPS games at all without feeling violently ill. It is far less bad for me these days (32).

the biggest culprit at the moment is Serious Sam HD make me feel really ill, this is on pansonic 42 plasma and me on sofa with controller.

Serious Sam makes me wanna barf as well, only game that does I think its the excessive head bobing

Some games and I think SS HD is one of them have a bit "swingy" motion to view changes almost like your connected via an elastic band (but not as swingy as head simulation - which is one of the most retarded things to implement in a game ever).

I bought Bioshock infinite in the Christmas sales - it's the only Fps to have given me motion sickness and it is all because the Fov is tiny even when you put it on max, additionally when you sprint it zooms in and out slightly which is just vomit inducing. I'm not too bothered though because I'm 2 hours in and I think it's a pretty poor game anyway!
