FPS's That Make You Use Your Brain and Not Just Continuous Mindless Shooting?

Far Cry if you chose to play it stealthy (or at higher difficulty levels)
Deus Ex and Thief as mentioned above
3rd person shooter: Hitman series (aiming for assassin gradings not butcher)

I partially disaggree. It will screw with you, but you do need to think to handle some of the more complex fire fights. I am playing through FEAR now on the hardest setting. Its pretty damn hard!
 
The Thief series most definitely, although, ignore the third one, that's absolute console-friendly crap... :(
They did that with Deus Ex 2 and Bioshock too :(
 
Crysis does a decent job of it in places. Theres a fair few squeeze points that if you actually spend some time considering and looking around will give you better ideas than simply brute forcing your way through.

One thing I thought would have made Crysis that bit more special was inertia on the speed skill. Speed, run, strength, jump = suprise lots of ppl the other side of a high wall would have been an amazing tactic in places.
 
I would suggest something like Rainbow six:Vegas (or some of the older games in the series if you can cope with the graphics).

Its certainly a game that you can't just run and gun (especially not on realistic) - well you can but you won't last long.

Raven Shield is a good tactical game. Being a big fan of the R6 games, Vegas isn't nearly the same. At least with GRAW2, Ubi gave the PC a PC version, rather than a shoddy port of the console version. Same cannot be said for Vegas.
