Frasier Revival

I recently rewatched the original series from start to finish and was really looking forward to this. However that video above feels like someone tugging on the rug, ready to whip it out from beneath me.

wow
It is just not funny or cleaver like it used to be. It must be being made and written by completely different people. They keep making terrible jokes, something akin to Roseanne or some other low brow US comedy. It feels cringy to watch and to see him stoop so low after the great series the original was. Ah but then after the film Money Plane, this is about that level of intelligence and quality. There is a obviously dubbed laughter track where everything is apparently hilariously funny but it just so bad. Nicholas Lyndhurst is embarrassing to watch. It feels very contrived and poor quality. My partner liked it.

Here's a clip so you see how truly cringe it is.

Nicolas Lindhurst is looking old!!! i quite liked Frasier back in the day (more so than most of the American Comedies) but i do wonder if it has had its day. have not seen a full episode of the new one just bits.

mind you, i mostly liked it because way back in the day i had a bit of a thing for Daphne and i really liked his dad and Niles in it as well..... without those 3 factors am not sure i am interested.....

Jesus, just looks like your standard low rent churn it out quick crap now.

Yea I'll give the reboot a miss.

I never liked Nicolas Lyndhurst either.

However.....I see the original is on Amazon Prime, I've seen quite a few of Channel 4 but never watched it properly through so might give that a go.

Frasier is my favourite sitcom ever, by a long way, and I'm sure, like most sitcoms, the reboot benefits from sitting through a few settling down episodes. But I took a dislike to Lyndhurst in "Butterflies", a very long time ago, and never really recovered from that. And the nephew in the trailer is too obviously a Niles substitute. It feels... lazy. I don't do subscription TV either, except in rare, special offer binges.

I look forward to catching up with this in a few years' time, when it's on C4 in the morning. Or on C4 in the evening a bit sooner, if it turns out to be halfway decent.

I hadn't seen that. Thanks. :D

In 2 minds whether to watch as I've generally not heard good things, bit of a shame if true. The original series was rerun recently. Either c4 or early morning on comedy central, during lockdowns.

I love Fraiser so I'll give this a wide berth until season 2 is announced by which point it should have either settled down into its groove or been cancelled for being crap - either way it needs a little time to prove itself before I watch it.

Sat stony-faced through the first episode.

Freddie has had a complete character change, David is a poor Niles light. The original series was full of clever writing, seemingly inconsequential stuff they later returned to for a joke, but there seems to be none of that with series so far. Without Niles or Martin, I think its is going to struggle. I think they are trying to turn Freddy into Martin, and that just won't work.
