Frasier Revival

Awful, awful, how could they get it this wrong, the pacing is completely off, the constant unwitty one-liners, the terrible supporting cast , especially Freddy played by Jack Cutmore-Scott who is actually an English actor, the character comes off so fake, you can see he has to put a face on to pull the accent off, no depth to the show at all, just another typical dull unfunny American sitcom like Seinfeld.

It isn't it. I will watch them all this series to see if it gets any better but I can't see it. Just trying to turn Freddie into Martin.

I remember seeing this show. I didn't really get it. Never really understood why it was so popular. Maybe it's just my tastes. Maybe I was too young?

Don't watch the latest episode then... trying to become a professor.. They have absolutely killed it. Nicholas Lyndhurst's character is the worst thing he has ever done, and he was in 'The Two of Us' and the 'Piglet Files' for crying out loud.

I guess like all sitcoms you have to watch enough to understand the characters and then you get to understand the interplay between them.

Frasier at its height was a fantastic comedy, clever, intelligent scripts, great wordplay and the comedic timing of DHP was second to none.

Personally, I found it ran out of steam when Niles and Daphne got married and it went downhill from there.

But of course, comedy is one of the most subjective genres, so it might just not be your cup of tea anyway.

I have no interest in watching this reboot.

It was ok, wasn't as good as the original but it was a nice comfy sitcom. Feels like sitcoms are on a bit of a downturn at the moment, think It's Always Sunny is the last one still going that I'm watching.

Frasier (the original series) is pretty much my favourite sitcom of all time, and one of the few older ones which I feel still stands up well.

I didn't manage more than 3 episodes of the revival, it was just soulless and flat to me. I think the big problem was that Frasier as a character was brilliant, but largely because he had a fantastic supporting cast, which I felt fell flat with this. Without Niles, or Martin, or Daphne etc to bounce off there just wasn't much there. Frankly, I'd much rather have seen a "Niles and Daphne Crane" show with them as a focus as an aging couple.

I'd agree with this, it was Niles and Martin that made the original Frasier funny. Whenever I think of the best scenes its almost always one that involves Niles, often scenes in which Frasier doesnt even appear.

By later seasons I think it became a lot more about Niles and Daphne too, with Frasier essentially being a side character/comic relief.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kelsey Grammar is a treasure and played a fantastic role, but it was those around him that made the show, hell even the dog.

The revival didn't really have that from what I could stomach.
