Freaking out!!!

Classic fm + glass of wine + hot bath + camomile tea just before bed = what anxiety?

This is a ritual at our house :p

Bit of an update.

Had my pre op assessment today and had a chat with the urology nursing team. As some of my symptoms have 'changed' for want of a better word, the current treatment is going to be another course (4 weeks) of antibiotics for what appears to be a prostrate infection or prostatitis as the other two courses of antibiotics obviously were doing their job but it was explained to me that prostate infection can be very stubborn to reach and my current symptoms are indicative of it. More reassurances from the urology nursing team, even going so far as to show me all my medical notes to assure me that cancer isn't mentioned and that as far as the nursing team is concerned anyway the operation is to characterise what the urologist feels is an abberant papilla in the kidney which seems to be recommended procedure. The op isn't going to be until March at the earliest it seems.

Some good news on the psychological front is that I seem to be getting to grips with the anxiety, keeping it managed with camomile tea, exercise and classical music.

Good news on the anxiety front. Tomorrow is "testicle Tuesday", I have no idea if they tell you what they think it is during the ultrasound or if they send results off and you have to anxiously await a letter in the post. Had that when I had two moles removed, did not enjoy reading that letter but the outcome was good :)

During my ultrasound the operator told me what he was seeing as he did it. The urologist also did the same and answered my questions during my first cystoscopy, I could see what he could see on a monitor. Things that needed testing in a lab or need studying such as cytology, CT scans and blood tests I had to wait for.

Everyone tells me that if there are any concerns they tell you straight away, although I must admit anxiety sometimes overrides what people who know better are telling you.

Good luck for tomorrow.

As far as I understand, if it's see through it's good as likely a cyst. I'm also fairly sure it's gotten smaller. Going for a nice meal out in Bath after so that should help afterwards. Keep us updated.

Good luck. For what it's worth I can speak from first hand experience and in the unlikely event they do find something down there it it almost always very treatable. Let us know how you get on.

That's good at least you are not having to wait too long - just a fortnight.

Yeah, the lovely booking lady had a gap and kindly thought of me, it was originally going to be in March. Hopefully the antibiotics won't stop me having the op, I need to check tomorrow.

Good Luck with your Op Castiel and a smooth recovery. Its weird reading this thread its like you are a totally different person ! :P

To be honest, I feel like a different person...I have suffered from depression before, but not anxiety. I'm sure I'll be back to my more stoic self soon enough.

I wouldn't worry about if anything it saves them giving you them on induction.

I am sure you'll sort your anxiety out too. Some things you can control and you should do so and some things you can't control and therefore should just accept as is. Kind of like kids. :D

Hi,

To free your mind from things you have no control over,

Play computer games
Watch movies
Learn how to meditate

Enjoy life one week at a time and think about how lucky you are to have a life on earth until todays date.

That helped me when I have periods of worrying over health :)

Noxia - Good luck for today.
Castiel - Good to see you've chilled out a bit and stopped the goggling!

Thanks all, couldn't pick it up on ultrasound due to size, doctor said that there is nothing bad in/on my testicles and that his scanner would certainly pick it up if I did have. He also said I was probably being a bit generous when I said I found a "mass". Got him to have a second scan over the exact spot but nothing. It's really effected my mood positively and I realise now I was a lot more worried about it than I thought, if that makes sense.
Unrelated somewhat but I was reading about their strikes (radiographers) and saw they haven't had a pay rise for 5 years so they've lost about 15% of their wages!
Apparently it's fairly common to have harmless bits that aren't even cysts appear but I think it's natural to presume the worst.
Made me feel better talking about my bits to strangers anyway! To celebrate I had the meatball pasta at Ask instead of Pizza.

Got my op on the 17th.

Best of luck, hopefully it's quick and painless. I have a real fear of surgery etc and I hope you don't suffer too much in the build up to it as I know I would.

Good result for you then Noxia. Events like that whilst scary at the time can actually be good they often clarify things and help you sort out your priorities.
