Myself and others only received overclocks of 4.4GHz with their Titans. Has Overclockers now taken steps to ensure that all CPUs obtain the promised 4.6GHz, or are Overclockers still delivering CPUs at overclocks not as advertised? I hope I don't come across as churlish, it's just that I believe Overclockers should either deliver on their promises or advertise the overclocks at the minimum figure they can actually guarantee.

Still a great system.

When our Titan Sandybridge systems were launched they were OC'ed at 4.40GHz, later systems were updated to a 4.60GHz overclock.

these are great systems, really worthwhile and capable with 8gb of memory

Nath,

Is it literally an Intel made motherboard? I looked on your store and you don't sell any intel boards in p67 flavour so just wondering?

the spinosaur system uses the fantastic Gigabyte P67 UD4 B3 motherboard.
this board allows us to hit big clocks consistantly. I wouldn't use this board in my own system if it wasn't up to scratch. ;)

the spinosaur has changed spec a few times and things adjusted until we now offer the best bang for buck at the pricepoint.
the 4.6ghz overclock is a recent addition. the systems we sell change spec all the time to keep as up to date as we can.

Nath has done a fantastic job of cramming as much high end kit into this system as possible.
did some games testing on the spinosaur in its current form and it eats everything we have thrown at it.

a true gamers system ;)

I am really concidering purchasing this system but have a few questions.

What GFX card would people recommend me getting with it? I would like something that will be good enough for the next 18 to 24 months with a view to upgrading it then or getting a similar card I would have and using SLI/Crossfire.

I also like the Idea of getting my windows drive as a SSD. Currently i play wow and Starcraft 2 and imagine a 60gig would only just hold window and the 2 games not really much room for anything else. Would that be a good idea?

I am also looking for a nice monitor to go with this system.

I have a total budget of about £1150 and that complete total. Are there other systems that are a little better than this one that are within my budget and would give a better bang for buck?.

Thanks,

Steve.

You are having a laugh with that stock graphics card claiming its a true gamers sytem.

The GT430 is a joke at resolutions very few people run anymore let alone 1650 or above.

Fair enough if someone pays to upgrade but the 430 is pretty paltry and certainly with the system "in its current form" is NOT going to eat everything you've thrown at it.

Maybe you are missing something son.

You can always choose to upgrade the GFX

The 430 lets them start an attractive price point but its is a pretty pointless card in this machine. Come the new Z68 motherboards that can overclock and output video from the inbuilt GPU on the 2500 you would be nearly as well of using the onboard stuff. You would want an ATI 6850 or a gtx 460 to at least strart to do justice to the rest of the system if your planning on gaming

No mate,

They were claiming in stock configuration IE with a 430 it runs everything thrown at it.

The point, you have missed it.

The Spinosaur sets a good base gaming system with a choice of graphics cards to make it an excellent gaming system.

Nath and RJK,

Thanks for the response. I bought the Titan when it was offered here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18235391&highlight=titan+spinosaur

It was definitely advertised as 4.6GHz. Still, I'm happy that others are now getting this. Now all I need is to get my SSD and monitor, then I'll be able to finally switch the beast on and put it to work.

Cheers

Hi Flyer, please post this in the customer support section so can deal with your issue.

nobody with a 430 is going to be running it on a 3011 are they
people spending money on stuff tend to research what suits their needs, or ask our sales team.

the point is, this stock config was tested on a monitor most likely to be used with that graphics config.
1400X900 and the 430 is perfectly fine for every game we tested.

thats why there is a choice, but in all fairness the 430 is still a capable card.

No mate,

it does, because we actually got one out and used it.
even with the 460/6850 cards in there we have been seeing very playable framerates on 1900X1200 and those cards are available to upgrade to for a reasonable cost.

you would be surprised how many people actually go for the 430, obviously you wouldnt know as you have nothing to base your opinion on. but the majority of people buying prebuilt systems dont have huge monitors and have no requirement for a £600 gpu.

the 430 is on there so that all bases are covered.
there has to be a starting point, and it may as well be the 430 as it caters for the budget gamer.

RJ - So 22fps at 1280x1024 is acceptable is it in battlefield 2? What games did you try that ran quite well with that card? It also achieves a whopping 21fps in Dirt 2, the only ace up its sleeve is 40.1fps in COD:MW2 where its minimum is 35.

The Good

Full feature-set. HDMI v1.4, PureVideo VP4, DX11
Can be designed with a low profile PCB and passive heatsink
Backed up by NVIDIA's CUDA-driven ecosystem

The Bad

ASUS card uses an active cooler
GT 430 would make a lot more sense at the magic figure of £49.99
Not a gamer's card

From a website ocuk used to work with and used to review things such as ocuks tornado case. Can't mention the name as it gets starred out.

Nothing to base my opinion on? Don't make statements you can't prove dude, I know just how bad these cards are for anything other than modest old games. I've just put one in a htpc and tried a few games for a giggle. They are not very capable

Your line where you state "even with the 460/6850 cards" - the 460 is far more capable than the 430 is..... Returning 112fps average, 88 minimum compared to 40 average and 35 minimum of the 430. The gtx 460 is leagues ahead of the 430 and not a great deal more expensive.

Of course the system is going to be very capable with the cpu and memory, just IMO that graphics card is pap for such a decent setup, its like buying a golf and getting the 1.2 12v engine from a polo put into it.

The rest of the spec is awesome and its not a bad price, but the gpu is naff and you can't seriously tell me it performs well at 1280x1024 when all the review sites say its pap.

To keep on topic - as i've already stated for the rest of the system its a cracking price and the 8gb makes it even more so. I was even surprised to see a decent wattage psu inside.

PS Nath : You've still not updated the motherboard line with the gigabyte stuff!

The system is a cracking system indeed, we have sold many of these, and to have the free 8GB upgrade is even more outstanding. Keep up the great work guys. :)
