If you use NZB files you're missing out on at least 60% of the newsgroups because most stuff diesn't use NZB files.
www.binnews.com for the win.

that site is asking for a login. cancelling it takes you through. is it a free site or pay site?

Something mentioned earlier...Newhosting and binnews.com ...are they linked somehow?

You have to pay but its worth every penny (I go thirds with two other people).

Besides the web based search and the creation of your own NZB files, Binnews also has a little search program called NBUFF that you put the details of your news providor in and when you do a search all the headers appear in your News Reader.

I believe v3 of newzbin now allows that (raw searching of usenet and the creation of your own NZB files.) But this binnews looks pretty good. I may have to try it :) cheers.

http://v3.newzbin.com much better than the old newzbin

Is there any reason I shouldn't use the binaries on blueyonder's own news server ?

Yes I know retention is only like 2 days ... but for free .. .its not bad.

or is there another reason I shouldn't use it ?

thanks, Mark.

None at all but expect files to be missing (non completion).

I'll guarantee you won't be disappointed.
If you do let me know and I'll email you the NBUFF search program that scans Binnews and puts all the headers into your newsreader.

I'll presume you've set Newsbin Pro up with your details of your Usenet Provider? -

I'll then presume that you've setup NBUFF with your Binnews and where Newsbin Pro is settings -

You run NBUFF first and it should ask you if you want to load Newsbin Pro.
Type something in the search box and off you go.
Another thing is that it can't do complicated searches
eg you're after a track by The Overclockers and its called Clocking My E6600.
if you type all that in you won't get a hit, try 'Clocking My E6600' first and if that fails try 'The Overclockers' etc.

Is binnews that much more better than newzbin then? With regards to how much content in pre-compiled nzb/bin files they list... ?
