Is that Newsbin Pro? I may have to have a look at that. Granted my lappy is much slower, but automatically unrarring could save a lot of time. Would be cool if it could automatically repair using pars too, then unrar, all without intervention.

edit - I see newsbin are hoping to integrate the repair feature at some point. That would be awesome.

Yea tis great aint it, plus when you buy it, upgrades are free, bargain at £30 odd if you ask me

Retention and completion a bit poor (free nildram news account was handy for fills) but otherwise was getting speeds of several mbit/s last week at uni. So, cheers to the OP :)

Oh, and newsleecher is a good newsreader.

dmpoole I forgot to that you for helping me out which is quite rude.

So thanks :) I haven't gotten around to it yet but I copied it all down on my computer for when I have a chance.

Ive tried loads of news readers and Newsleecher wins imo, super search function is great and if you want auto unpacking download a program called Auto Unpack, it repairs/unrars/ then deletes the rars.

OOOPS, i forgot all about you. dmpoole, pls forgive me :(

i've signed up binnews at the other day. thanks mate :)

Did you find the nbuff (search) program so that it puts all the headers into your Newsreader?
If not email me.

anyone still using the easynews.nl free server ?

notice it is still running but you have to register with your email ?

Is it a scam - or just a genuine sort of beta test ?

thanks, Mark.

Newsleecher Beta 2 will do this as well, it auto repairs and unpacks.

Cheers mate ;) Since my last post, albeit a few months ago, I've been using autounpack, which does a great job, though I notice in newsleecher that there is this option. I'll give it a shot, though my current setup works perfectly on my main machine, rather, than my laptop :)

Missed this thread first and second time around.

Can I suggest if people are serious about Usenet they try the absolute best combo available? (there is literally is no other).

Giganews + Newsleecher. Worth every penny. 100 Days retention on Giganews and 120 day search in Newsleechers SuperSearch. You never have to download group headers, retention is the longest of ALL providors it will max whatever connection you have (we have 100mb at work... I can max that on Giganews) and its completion is about 99.99%.

Any questions, let me know. I am the Newsmaster at the ISP I work for but I have only been given funds for about 6 days retention :( A news feed is around 2.5TB a day. The problem lies with needing very VERY fast storage so that thousands of people can be hitting it at the same time while also having redudancy.

What exactly does Newsleechers Super Search search for?
Does it look for NZB files or does it look for individual files like my Binnews + Newshosting combo does?

Excellent but the advantage of the Binnews + Newsbin + Newshosting combo is that I can also browse around the Binnews site into different categories as well as filling up my newsreader.

I tried getting my head around newsgroups in the past and had a little success at it. So basicly I need a an account.. like easynews, then a client like newsbin? and a par reader? like auto unpack/quickpar?

I also have Nildram as an isp, it says i have newsgroup access, but doesn't explain one iota how to set up access??

Im really confused, sorry. How do I get my username password for nildram newsgroup access? anyone know??

and whats the best free news reader to start with? must be easy to use. :p
