Freecom external cuts out

My new Freecom external 320Gb USB powered drive keeps cutting out. I have transferred some files to backup but sporadically it clicks and resets, quite unusuable now, every time I try to copy it does this, although sometimes I get lucky it transfer a whole bunch then resets again

ill have to try it in machine at work. But wonder if anyone else had this, could be a usb power problem>?

It might be power, but any drive that makes clicky noises and is then unresponsive is a worry. Could be having seek errors, could be mechanical failure. If it's easy to get out of the caddy I'd give it a check while attached directly to the PC.
