• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

FreeSync coming next month! (?)

As you agreed some people choosing to go PC on a low budget will have to get screens anyway.

That isn't what I said, we were talking about people who already had the hardware. Of course for those who have nothing they're going to need to buy a screen

Seems like you're just using a very specific scenario of someone with nothing coming into this.

It's not going to be free for anyone to be honest.

It's getting a little weird.

There is no such premiss in this thread to make this debate as qualified only to those who already have screens. so you should not stake your case based on that premiss and then complain because i'm not toeing your rules.

Try saying what you actually want to say instead of trying to cover it with some Russell Brand esque tone.

You know fine well the majority of people in gaming be it consoles or PC's already have screens. For the few who aren't in it then yes they'd need a new screen and it doesn't mean they will all buy freesync capable ones either. This all started with whether current gamers would notice it or not so I don't see your point using people with no experience?

I shouldn't have to qualify in such narrow specifics, if you make invalid assumptions then really that is your own fault, not mine.

Again a pretty much pointless post covered up with some intellectually sounding tone. I don't even think you know what you're trying to say yourself.

A lot of gamers don't have systems that can maintain 30+ FPS, if Free-Sync didn't work at below 30 FPS they would lose out, ergo; its a good idea.

Good thing FreeSync is retrospectively supported and available on that lower end hardware you refer to.....

Oh wait, it isn't.

Ignoring the fact FreeSync isn't a magic bullet for poor FPS they are still losing out because they don't even have hardware that can run it.

Another thing to look at 30fps @60hz won't be the same as 30fps @30Hz

One reason you get more input lag when frame rate drops low on 60hz is because it displays the same image more than once.
By right with freesync, you shouldn't gets that double the frame rate, because the GPU is running the show.

This is getting silly now and not making much sense.

If Freesync can make 30 fps or less feel and look smooth, I will eat my hat.

I hope you got one ready :)
Freesync will make it smooth to somesones eyes just like to some gsync would make it feel smooth,
End of the day we all have a different idea on smooth
From what i remember of the Nvidia gysnc video gysync works to the refresh rate so below 30 it is working if the monitor supports that but it was also mentioned gsync has a sweet spot it works in best , I'd suggest freesync will be the same.
Will be interesting if once they are both out on the same monitor if it can be tested if the sweet spot for both is the same
Lets not get worked up atm however if freesync will make it smoother then gysnc at say humbugs 24fps and wait four weeks until its out before we worry

In time amd will release a new line up of low, medium and high end GPUs all of witch will support Freesync.

What you saying is just like back when we all had dx10 GPUs and dx11 Games was shown, to use this new feature we needed to upgrade. World of technology

You are missing the point, humbug was specifically saying that people currently with low end hardware can use freesync to save money... but buying a new GPU AND monitor is not really saving money, when they might be better served keeping their monitor and just buying a better gpu

Some people don't have a monitor, or they want to replace it.

I have a mate who is as much an AMD fanatic as I am nVidia and I built him an all AMD system with an 8350 and a pair of 7950s not so long back. He wants to get a new monitor, so I will make him hold off till these are out and I will use my eyes as the test when I pop round his.
