FreeSync overtaking G-Sync with higher refresh rates???

Sounds like vendors are starting to laugh off Nvida's tax, the new licencing is probably stupidly expensive. Just look at the new HDR Predator offerings from Acer.

That would be entirely so, if it weren't for the fact that FreeSync still isn't as good as G-Sync. Despite what some would have you believe.
How isn't it as good as Gsync? All I can think of is marginally better adaptive overdrive and this may have improved over the intervening years.

High Resolution Free Sync monitors maybe far cheaper but there going pretty much useless without a high end AMD gpu to be able run games at very high FPS

If someone bought one of these 3440x1440 144hz Free-sync monitors what GPU would they buy to get 100+fps on it

That exactly the predicament I'm in. Looking at buying a new PC but feel I've got no choice but Nvidia and G-sync for 3440x1440 120Hz+ gaming on the newer AAA games.

Yes I look at it like this

So buyers can choose between paying for a highly over priced Nvidia G-Sync monitor or paying much less for a Free-sync Monitor that has No high end GPU's available for it..

Take your pick :p:D:p:D:p:D..Were screwed either way..

The Division issues were related to Relive added on the drivers back in late 2016! and only few people had the issue which resolved since.

On the other hand, is the stuttering issue with W10 1803 and gsync fixed, or still ongoing since February? Last time checked (early August) there is a few hundreds posts long thread ongoing in the official forum running since the start of the year.

That was one of a number of issues with that game and FS and it is still a problem. 1803 introduced a lot of problems GPU wise it also screwed up FreeSync for a lot of users - I tend to stick with Windows 7 for gaming as it generally seems more problem free.

G-sync is better than Freesync but that's because Freesync is dependant on how well the Monitor makers support it. Freesync 2 is the solution to that problem and it would be very hard to tell G-sync & Freesync 2 apart in a blind test. :D

You can modify the freesync range on a lot of monitors. So is isn't set in stone.

Personally I don't like using either all that much, it lowers the refresh to match the FPS and I don't find it that comfortable to look at. Plus I notice some image quality loss with both, especially on moving images.

I disagree, I'm running a 3440x1440 75hz Freesync monitor with a Vega64 and very little tweaking is needed to keep the framerates high in most games and usually the tweaks make hardly any difference to the visual quality.
It may be nice to know there's some visual improvement going on that you haven't really got time to stop playing to look at but is it important enough that you need to choose that over the additional 10, 20 or 30 frame penalty it takes to run it?

Samsung TVs (some 2018 models already are) going forward will also be Freesync. I'd expect LG, Panasonic and Sony to also jump on that.

Good point. Makes me wonder what is coming from AMD.

i got 4 gsync monitors from 1440p to 3440x to 4K. i would love the choice to go free-sync to try it, but the lack of Good Graphics cards & AMD still haven't got the eco-system down to "just working nicely" by that mean making good specs to follow. none of this only going between tiny hz windows & crap quality

to me atm nvidia is = apple when steve was alive "just works most of the time but you pay the premium" & AMD is the PC, it might work depending on x.x.x.x

A 2080 / 2080Ti duh... :p

I've spent quite a bit of time and money making my PC quiet a fan on the monitor that was at all audible would be a big no no and definitely not what you want to experience from a premium priced product - don't be cheap and put some copper in there if it needs serious cooling.
