FreeSync overtaking G-Sync with higher refresh rates???

How isn't it as good as Gsync? All I can think of is marginally better adaptive overdrive and this may have improved over the intervening years.

Vendors still conduct comparisons, ghosting is still an issue on a large number of panels, and boy are there a large number. Couple that with input lag, too. The problem with FreeSync is AMD let any, Tom Dick and Harry enable it on their products. Nvidia have a pretty strict scrutineering process. Something that ultimately leads to buying a better panel for the privilege. Nvidia are simply charging too much both on the market and to their partners for that privilege, though.

Not everyone is going to notice the differences on the new standard, but the experience is still not identical. That’s if they have the nouse to find the right panels in the sea of FreeSync monitors.

The odd thing is I have a couple of friends who wanted VRR displays and opted for freesync ones due to cost and to pair with older AMD cards. They were waiting for new AMD cards to deliver but as they haven't they'd now happily buy an Nvidia GPU if they supported Freesync as they are the only high end option.

How many more cards would Nvidia sell if they did? Anyone wanting high HZ 1440p UW or 4K would buy Nvidia. I guess these extra sales wouldn't be enough to offset the loss of G-Sync module salws.

Nothing preventing nvidia from allowing freesync on their cards.
Of cause there is...

If there gpu's also had free-sync then they could loose out loads of money from less G-sync monitor sales...

Plus there G-Sync is also used to tie you to there GPU's due to when people buy a G-sync monitor any new GPU's bought aferwards will also need to be G-sync to work with the monitor..

If Freesync wins, nvidia won't stubbornly stick to G-Sync.

The former will win because of consoles and due to being far cheaper.

Nvidia are simply creaming the market while they can. I suspect they know there is only a short opportunity to do so.

Can TVs not have adaptive sync? I suggest you read the last few pages.

All TVs by 2020 (next gen consoles will come out then) will have adaptive sync. High end TVs in 2018 are already getting firmware updates to support it.

Can anyone confirm what the Freesync range of the 34GK950F is please? I've seen 48-144Hz and 75-144Hz as possibilities.
