Freesync questions from a noob

I'm going to be receiving a Freesync monitor today and have a couple of questions.

Firstly, am i correct in thinking that in AMD Wattman i should set Vsync to be ON and in each game i play have Vsync OFF in the settings?

Secondly, should i carry on using Displayport or switch to HDMI?

I usually just let the application/game decide tbf, never had an issue.

Same as JediFragger, I never touch the vsync controls in the Radeon settings menu. Only a few times have I had Freesync not work where turning vsync on in the game would fix it but those scenarios are rare.
