If that's true, how did reCapture know the word was correct. And, if it already knew the word was correct, why did it need a human to confirm it?

Doesn't it always display one word it's very familiar with, and one word that it doesn't know. If the user gets the one it knows right, it takes their effort for the other and compares it against everyone else that's entered it, to see if they all get the same answer.

I'm sure it explains it on their site how and why it's done or something.
