why is the plane in the carpark
optical illusion, the satellite is looking directly down giving no perception of height therefore looks like its parked in the car par

But both the plane and the shadow are pretty much exactly the same size as those of the others? What jumps out to me is that there seems to be no detail at all in that shadow, and some in the others.

I doubt that- the shadows are all off. If thats the case then it's been edited. The scale also would be different

Curses, I've been found out! 
I thought I'd make my random image posts a bit more interesting and have a play about in Photoshop before posting...no-one noticed anything with my street scene...think it was a bit subtle.

I think I have noticed your subtle editing in your street image. I guess its something to do with a pedestrian facing the camera wearing shades?
