Quite a sad photo - Kye was a 3-year-old Belgian German Shepard he worked as a K-9 with the Oklahoma City Police Department. He was stabbed by a convict yet continued to chase the man down until he had helped stop him escaping

unfortunately he died a day later in surgery but was honoured a full police service funeral - including full police honors and a 21-gun salute

I think it's nice to see that he was given the respect deserved as he certainly showed courage in the face of duty - where a lot of humans would not

That's amazing. The US police force have so much more respect for their dogs, on retirement all their costs are covered by a dog pension. In this country many of them are euthanized which I find totally abhorrent.

They are? My dogs have all come though my stepdad who was a dog handler, when they were end of service, they came house dogs. And pretty much every other dog handler that I've met had several dogs, ones that had come from retirement, as well as their working ones.

My old dog was just like this. He was awesome.
