Friendly Warning: MSN Virus

I got sent this on MSN earlier, I clicked the link however the server wasn't working. I copied the link I was sent, it was: *removed in case some idiot clicks it*

I'm running a scan of my computer atm, thanks for that warning.

how many times do i need to post that? ;)

i clicked it, then it streamed through in the conversation about 10 more times.. and then it gave me the option of downloading the .pif file which i quite readily refused!

then i told my mate he was a tool and linked him how to get rid of it.

This thing is pretty nasty. I've spent a while today cleaning up a friend of mine's laptop after she downloaded the thing from the MSN link.

She (well, the virus actually) sent it to all her friends too.

I had something similar recently actually that didn't ask you to download anything :(

I had the usual pop-up window to say someone had contacted me, and when I clicked to open the conversation window I got the virus. Must have accidently clicked on a link (although I wasn't aware that I had) but didn't have to download anything which meant by the time I'd read the "OMG! Is this you?!" it was too late!

Wasn't harmful though, just a real pain in the butt to get rid of.

This little sod got me and I had to format.

First virus I have EVER had and it was one where I clicked 'DOWNLOAD' on a ***kin .jpg extension!!

Yes, I did slap myself.

I downloaded this for fun. :D :D

Me and Avast absolutley destroyed it. :D

Uninstalled Live Messanger. Then ran a slected area scan using Avast on Apps and Temp found in MY Local Settings. I was able to delete it right away. With Messenger (Live or 7.5) installed it wouldnt let me delete or move it to the chest.

But I owned it in the end.

Azza 1 - 0 Silly MSN Virus :p

lol i was just reading this then and i got a pop up from one of my contacts saying Is This You  ?

luckly i read your post :p

lol I work in support for an anti-virus company and we've been getting this a bit lately... easily fixed though with some Hijackthis know-how. :D
