Here yaar mate - just for you - quick and dirty bench test - whack volts upto 1.49 (safe limits) CPU @ 4.2Ghz /2400CPU-NB with stock mem 9-9-9-24/2T - Really crap settings tbh - no optimisation:

No i havn't Fritzed the E8600, i have Fritzed the 975 though and it's top of the leaderboard on the first page at the moment.

My latest run at i7920 > 4.473GHz, lol just noticed l did a 2m run in fritz , quickly did SPI 1m = 09.160s.

I am using a much lower clock than i normal have as i have been perfecting and tweaking my 4ghz clock and testing speed comparisons between CPU clock vs NB clock at high end overclocks - will post this score for now (4ghz)

I was actually thinking of getting the 990X because I had the RIIIE but then, I decided, for the same amount of money, I could get the 3930K and just sell my RIIIE and I7 950 to cover for the new board. At least I got an Intel 6G as well as quad channel which is usefull for my photo and video projects. 990X is really good. The problem is with the X58 which could not make full use of 6G SSD's.

Was a bit scared running Fritz Chess Benchmark... never seen my wattage and temps being so high! :eek:

All done on a Thermalright Venomous X Black Edition cooler with a single Gelid Wing UV Blue fan!

Won't be trying any higher intill I have some kind of watercooling setup.

Corsiar H100 seems unable to handle the heat even on high setings.

Thats a crap ton of volts you're putting through that thing, wouldn't be so suprised really.
