Froch vs Kessler

Froch has two belts, Froch is a far bigger pull and will make more money and as the Champion Ward needs to prove he can do it outside of his country.

I don't know about that. I agree that having 2 belts is significant, but Ward has made a big name for himself very quickly, being ranked number 2 pound for pound/being compared to Mayweather, is arguably a bigger pull. Jeff Powell got it right I think, it's most likely to be a Vegas fight if it came round.

Despite being that highly rated and American Ward's also refused to fight in Vegas. All but thee or four of his fights have been in California and he'll price himself out of any fight unless it's in his back garden. I'm not sure if that's because he's scared or because he knows he's not that loved outside of California in America.

Lol. Everyone knows that Ward isn't coming to the UK, ever. Ward is the man to beat, why would he come to Froch.

True, but he's also obviously scared of not fighting in front of his home crowd. At least Froch had the balls to do it.

But he has a point about 'stars are made in the US'. Beating Ward in the USA would probably make Froch a bigger celebrity than just fighting in the UK.

Unfortunately this is true. Same could be said of Calzaghe, who would have been even more legendary had he fought in the US other than his last 2 fights. Problem is the US market is ultimately more important, and the patriotic US public will rarely criticise their own boxers for not fighting abroad, so he has no need to leave really. And Eddie Hearn will have a hard job offering Ward more money than he would find anyway fighting someone else in the US.

Froch has come leaps and bounds from a few yrs ago, when he still won, but now he's a force to be reckoned with. He's probably got the best chin in the sport. Could you of imagined Khan taking some of those shots. would have gone into his chicken dance.

Ward will probably fight him in Vegas now, which he'll still outbox Froch unfortunately (for Froch)

Great fight. Glad to see HBO had it live in the USA. I'll be honest with ya, I used to hate Froch, his style, his cumbersome swings, but i've since come around. Really it was the Froch vs Kessler 1st fight that i turned.. Has he split from his bird? Never forget that wailing wench from the Abraham fight.. I was just hoping she's shut up.

Anyway well done England and well done Froch !

Khan stepping up Floyd chase

AMIR KHAN insists negotiations are under way to fight pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Former world champion Khan will step up to welterweight to take on Mayweather, who is unbeaten in his 17-year career.

Khan said: “I am told it is a fight Mayweather wants and it is a fight I would love to take.“He has flaws. I believe the only way to trouble him is with genuine, explosive speed — something I have had all my career.”

that would end khans career! he's improved since training with virgil hunter, but he has to be the most overrated fighter at the moment! why doesn't he fight saul alvarez? to be honest i don't think he deserves high profile fights!

the fight tonight was quality, i haven't seen a fight this equally matched since maybe micky ward vs arturo gatti - and what a hell of a trilogy that was!

great performance from both, but froch took everything and barely flinched or stumbled after receiving the best kessler could offer! froch looks extremely composed in the ring at the moment and its great watching him when he lowers his right hand and goes on the 'hunt'.

I think Froch will do better against Ward than the last time, if the fight takes place. But he needs to do two things to win: increase his speed and think smarter to outbox Ward. He probably also needs to increase stamina even more because Ward didn't seem to show any signs of tiring.

just seen in the sun (i know) ward has said a few things about a london fight.

it will have to take place at wembley.
froch only wants it in the uk as he's never lost here (much like ward and his fights then)
and wants £50 million for fighting here, even though thats as much as the fight will probably draw in ticket sales and ppv.

yet again ward is talking himself out of fighting outside of the states. what a chump, err champ :P

Do people really want to see Froch v Ward II? The first fight was about as conclusive as it gets. I don't see what we can gain from a rematch. I don't see why Ward should travel either, he's the man of the division, but he'll go where the money is.
