From the "getting old sucks" files!

I'm 50 and it hurts so much running 10k in under 38 minutes these days so I've given up on that distance.

WHAT?
For anybody that didn't know this guy ran the Marathon De Sables a few years ago.

Between 1999 and 2008 I ran many Marathons/half Marathons and now at 58 I may be needing a walking stick soon.

Lesson learned, don't run marathons. They wreck your body. :D

Who the hell can survive running? Within seconds I want to stop. That was with a personal trainer for a year who got my fitness up. Still hate it.

I was told when I was about 19 don't do body building by an ex body builder.

He was riddled with arthritis and in constant pain due to his excessive body building when he was young.

Exercise but don't run your body into the ground as you will pay for it later in life. ;)

Body building? Phags. Powerlifting m8, do some real lifts.

29 and on a third shoulder operation as the bone has worn away! But, there's people much worse off than me so hope everyone who has an ailment gets better or manages it okay!

also, op you're 55. Hah. Old.

:)

Like I said to the "Schoolgirl" masquerading as a consultant at the Hospital appointment I had a couple of years ago when she, in a rather dismissive (and a little bit upsetting) manner told me that I was developing glaucoma and would have to take eye-drops and might go blind.

This has subsequently been very successfully resolved by cutting edge surgery BTW
"You have all this to look forward to. Turn 50 and it all falls to pieces!"

Needless to say, at that point she actually looked very unhappy! :p
