my car is parked outside (too big for my garage) in shade until midday and the last few mornings it's well iced up.

i'm thinking of using an old blanket jsut during the worst of this weather

any ideas/ tips on what works well appreciated :)

I get the same thing, but the ice in on the inside of the windscreen!

What the best way of dealing with this, as I find pouring warm water on the screen sometimes just makes more ice! :(

You've got moisture inside the car, which is causing it to freeze up.

You need to find where your car is leaking water for a start, but to help stay on top of it, go and buy a moisture absorber :)

Use cold water, and turn the wipers on straight away (the water should unfreeze them very quickly), job's a good'un.

Thanks to Honda's crappy UK build quality I had more ice on the inside of my windscreen this morning than the outside! :(

I use warmto hot water on mine. Pour it on the metal first to reduce the risk off the shock temp cracking the screen then use the wipers as soo nas its clear to stop it freezing up again. Doen this for years. The odd time I've used a scraper my window has come away with horrible obvious scratches that really annoy me now :(

A blanket or two works, just be sure to weigh them down with a plank of wood or something.

Living in a small town, doing that near me would result in said plank being used to "fix" your car.

I see some people just shut the ends of the blanket in the doors and that seems to work. I'd rather not risk that myself with the alarm etc.
