Fry ups

chips on a breakfast is wrong. hash browns take or leave. but no mentionof tattie scones yet?

a full would be links, square, round sausage. fruit pudding, black pudding, haggis, poached eggs , beans , tomatoes, button mushrooms in butter, bacon and tattie scone. maybe fried bread coffee and juice. egg should be on black pudding which should be on tattie scone. beans should be thick and sliceable and tomato has to be cooked and starting to caramelise. that particular irish black pudding is superior to scottish even stornaway, youll not get a square sausage anywhere else and even fruit pudding can be hard to find. links are very questionable but could forgo the round sausage for butcher links

then douse the whole shebang in red and brown sauce

2x Bacon, smoked, crispy
1x Square slice
2x Eggs, Poached
1x Tomato, halved and grilled
1x Beans
2x Fried Bread
2x Black Pudding
1x Bubble

I could add in mushrooms, bread & butter or hash browns depending on the day.

And tea, lots of tea.

See I agree and yet don't agree.

You're like wtf?

Hear me out.

The kind of places you get chips with your breakfast tend to be better. Fundamentally though, chips shouldn't be on there.

It depends what you class as "better" as well I guess, I'm more of a Marty, than a Frasier if you catch my drift.

might as well stick a bit of roast beef or a fishfinger.

Got to have black pudding with mine.
Well done bacon, nice and crunchy with the egg yolk.
Baked beans in a side pot.
Roasted tomatoes, cracked black pepper on them.
Toasted sourdough for mopping up is peak.
And a cup of coffee.
Cracked black pepper. Rookie I like mine whole.

I have a feeling of deja-vu.....

"Never used to be. It was white pudding* and black pudding. The haggis thing is more of a guesthouse/hotel thing really.

Scots fry-up = potato scone, bacon (Ayrshire), sausage (lorne), fried egg, black pudding, Lanark tomato.

*you don't see this stuff now, which is probably for the best. Charley Barley (see previous post re marag dubh) in Stornoway made a great white pudding but most are odd to say the least these days"

From the start of the year on another fry-up thread here ;)

My regular weekend 'fry up' is in the form of a fat breakfast sandwich.

2 sausages, mushrooms, one black pudding, two eggs, ketchup, in two lightly toasted slices of buttered bread.

Sets me up for the day, plenty of energy for a 2-3 hour bike ride to burn some of it off!
