Fuel theft attempt

Last year it said on the Midlands BBC1 news that 20% of people in SOT have zero qualifications (may be they aren't aware that schooling is 'free').
That was a polically correct say of saying 'it is a *** hole'.

Scarily i can believe the statistic on education. Fortunately i live outside of Stoke....unfortunately it doesn’t make the drive into Stoke for work anymore enjoyable lol.

The area is a dive on the whole, has very little going for it and is getting poorer by the day. Unemployment levels are also ludicrously high and immigration levels in the area have shot through the roof of late.

similar sort of experience up north in the Ex mining communities.

When the pits closed down the whole community suffered. Kids can't be bothered with school because they see no hope and the parents can't be encouraged to motivate the kids either.

Only difference is with stoke is that it was when the manufacturing shut down rather than the pits.

Didn't SOT have loads of mines too?
The pottery manufacturing is well and truely down the toilet.

I have never visited Sheffield but imagine it isn't the poshest of places without the Steel industry.

On topic though :p:
Fuel theft is going to increase on an epic scale as fossil fuels become more and more expensive.

I can only imagine how many litres are in a full Shell tanker lorry!

Stoke's lost both the mining industry and the pottery industry so a double whammy really. You are correct in what your saying over parenting its very much a knock on effect from one generation to another.

Council estates in my respects are like a small county/city with a lot of the residents barely leaving their estate. They see people out of work and lounging round eating take aways as the norm as its what all their family and friends do. Its very sad that there is such a large population of people in this country with this mentality.

never realised that Stoke had a large Mining presence as well.

No wonder the education is so poor.

I've worked with the dregs of SOT at Alton Towers a fair few years ago.

They bunk off for a fag break whenever possible and spend £80 in Liquid (a night club) yet cannnot afford the rent.
They have sick days all over the place and they have one working speed, which is **** off.

I've never had a good impression of the place. The accent certainly doesn't make them sound upmarket either :p.

If Stokies could steal the steam off your **** then they would.

given the cost of diesel you have got me thinking, two of our datacentres have 500 litre red diesel tanks outside them......

:p

At one of Dad's old companies they had the power go off.... and after the few minutes of running on batteries all the servers shut down. Generator didn't kick in at all.... Turned out some **** had nicked the fuel!  Why there wasn't a sensor in the tank I don't know!

It's not a police matter, it's customs and excise.

AFAIK it's not actually red anymore either, it has to be chemically tested to prove you're using "red" diesel..

Can you even easily dip a tank on a modern car?

It is a HMRC matter but police can dip a tank and if there is cherry in it they can seize the vehicle, recover it and Customs take over.

When I was working for TDG on the Tesco Fuel Contract last month it was 36,000 litres IIRC.

Depends on the size of the tank, split tanks (split into compartments as opposed to ones with leaks!) hold less due to the internal bulkheads.

Some hold more afaik.

You can remove the red dye from red diesel anyway, using hydrochloric acid.

And it'll run like its got a bag of spanners under the bonnet.

Off Topic but

I have no formal qualifications yet I am in the top 10% of earners in the UK and live in Stoke, still I didn't move here till I was an adult and only moved here because my employer is based in sunny Stoke.

amigafan2003 you should see how low the average wage is in this dump of a town (and I said top 10% of earners to save on potential e-peen comments) I was trying to point out that no formal qualifications doesn't necessarily mean stupid.

Odd way of doing things, i'd have simply put a hole in the bottom of the tank.

An old Accord I had was fitted with a drain plug on the tank, I sold it for scrap and had it collected from my driveway, and before hand drained the tank using said plug, it took aaaaaaagggggggeeeeeeesssssss And that was only to get about 10 litres out!

you'd need to drill lots of holes to do it in any real time, causing a bit of a cuffufle whilst doing it, lets hope anyone trying this gets caught!
