A local Jet garage had SUL in, I was running low so thought I'd top up until I could get near a Shell garage. Regular unleaded was around 107.9 so surely the SUL can't be that much more expensive? Picked up the pump, 149.9p a litre. Back it went.

Don't come anywhere near Reading or London then... All fuel prices are higher that what you've quoted, including the bog standards.
Thing is, they all have these whacking great big signs out front with the prices on, so you don't even need to slow down if you don't like what you see...
I've got like a bazilion petrol stations around me, one 2 miles away is always the cheapest, sainsburys.
seems to always have petrol 3-4p less than others, including them selves in a different location.
I tend to fill up whenever it's below a 1/4 and i'm near a station that sells the premium stuff to be honest. Also the town i live in tends to be at least 4p a litre more expensive than the surrounding areas of the same brand (tesco). Cheeky bar stewards.

Reading prices for FuelSaver Diesel, I'm showing between £1.07 and £1.24, looking at just BP stations... a couple of which are just over a mile apart, from the looks of it.
I fill mine (2010 Honda Insight) sometime around when the trip computer comes up with 0 miles range left. I know the size of fuel tank. At supposedly zero miles I still have around 4l of petrol left (40l tank).
The most I've ever squeezed into it was 38.25l (well past the alledged zero), not that I'm ever intending to run it dry.
Always brim it (2nd click). I'll brim it in advance if I have a long journey coming up.

What a bizarre comment. Firstly it's cheap because they don't tax it anything like we do and secondly they pay similar amounts for oil as anyone else does, it's a commodity traded on world markets.
Plus the USA is almost entirely self sufficient with oil now, given its now the worlds largest producer.

To keep the tiny holes in the injectors clean and keep a nice spray pattern for the life of the engine. Dirty injectors hurt fuel economy and power. It also massively increases Particulate emissions (and visible smoke).
This is why many diesel fuel claims are about long term benefits to overall engine running which are provided by additives. Cetane number means very little in this regard.

I paid $1.93 today but that'll probably be my last sub $2 fill, the gas tax is going up $0.23/gal in a couple of weeks
It was 127.9p per litre today at my local BP, 1p more than their Ultimate petrol. Not sure if I see any MPG gain - or HP, although likely minimal - but the exhaust makes a good tune with it, especially in a multi-story.
