Fuji X Series

I don't think we are the target demographic for the half, seems to be aimed squarely at the social media people who jumped on the X100 hype train.

40th birthday is round the corner and I'm considering an X100VI again. Mad they are still out of stock everywhere!

They pop up in stock all the time.

Both colours were in stock on Amazon 2 weeks ago.
3 weeks ago it was in stock in John Lewis.
late March I saw a silver one in my local LCE's shop window.

Even then for that demographic it's still just not a good camera like the x100. It feels cheaply constructed and it's also just slow. The ovf is about on par with a disposable camera, the cold shoe makes it look like a toy camera l, the af is sluggish, it takes ages to move onto the next shot after winding the stupid handle. The handle doesn't even feel satisfying to use like a real film camera which is surely the main aim of this thing.

They do and I'm sure I can get one, but my point is that it's still madness that they aren't readily available to pick up.

Just set up stock alert in John Lewis.

I think there is a better way - when I was last in store I was after one and they put my name down to reserve one from the distribution centre. When it came in stock (before it hits the online stock) I got a call to buy one. Unfortunately I decided to pass at the time. Took about a week.

Oddly there's a bricks and mortar store in here in NI (the only independently run store in the whole of Ireland) and they have had a fairly steady supply of X100vi's. Now when I say steady they usually only get 1 or 2 every month or so but the market here is so small that the guy had two in stock for over a month before they were eventually bought.

Saw a VI in stock at Wex, ordered it for pickup at the store where the stock was held, and my order's just floating. Hoping it wasn't a stock error.

I priced up all my other Fuji gear and it'll just about pay it off at Wex trade in prices (which ain't great, but it's less hassle)

IMO they’ve missed a real opportunity with the mass market. If it was £300-350 it at least had the potential to go viral, I don’t see that as remotely possible with the price tag. It’s just going to be a toy for a segment of amateur photographers with money to burn as very few people will have this as their primary camera, not a massive market surely?

The Instax crowd is HUGE, at least in Asia. Every young person has one, there were people queuing up to get instax film just because 1 store were selling it at 10p lower than RRP. Except that the Instax crowd gets £200 Instax cameras. I suspect they are hoping a fraction of these people will jump on it, as the Instax cameras are a bit toy like in built, slow to operate and lacking in actuals shooting features.

The price though is the killer part.

Haven’t you had two of them already and sold them on? I’m curious about what would bring you back to it again.

The photos I've taken with my Fujis over the years are on another planet in terms of how good they are, I miss that. I don't so much miss having to take a camera out with me.
