Well the game starts up OK but it doesn't look as though you can play online with this version as it asks for a cd-key when you login under the multiplayer menu ...

We used to play it over lan at uni and that at least should still work fine

I've got weird problems with mine. A few minutes into the game I'm getting strange things. Lots of green and blue flasshy thing. Maybe tearing? Only happens when I I look outside. If I look at the walls or floors everything's fine, but the moment I get a glimpse of some scenery I get all kinds of green and blue tearing. I think it's tearing :/

Prob just graphical issues as opposed to the free demo specifically.

that was a random assumption to make, reading the thread lets me believe that as it is free that makes it good, all you have to sit through are a few adverts while loading that look like they're freezing up your pc and then to play multiplayer you need a cd-key from the original game or something which will be sorted.

If its set up right.

Every decent server will not allow you to play MP with HDR enabled because of this.

Yea I read the notes on what it changes and there are a lot of things which are altered, including the weapon models which the guy reviewing it said weren't as good as the default ones ... think I'll give this a miss - I can live with that annoying single advert repeating

That's a problem with geometry instancing, either your card/driver doesn't support the way farcry does it or vice verse. If your playing on a reasonably up to date PC turning it off won't affect framerates anyway.

In the console type:

r_geominstancing 0

et viola no more green and blue flasshy things

are these ads on a time limit ? ive just booted up farcry for a game and none of the ads loaded with it, where as for the week previous they have :confused:

?
