You don't have to scroll though all points manually. The idea of have a large area coverage with many points is to to track moving subjects under continuous focus mode- e.g. track a bird in flight/motor car/soccer player.

Never use it. Even if I wanted to track something I would manually select the focus point (composition) and pan to keep the focus where I want it.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. I'm swayed back to stay with what I've got, invest in some good glass and actually work on my photography skills rather than gear.
