To be fair, your forum name is after The Stig. :p

Anywho.... I think that although beta is mentioned a lot, he means that it will constantly be in development and improving so, in a sense, this is as close to a 'full release' as we'll get until it gets thoroughly tested.
 
Leaking another teaser to build the hype back up, if the in game xmb crap is anything to go by...

Talk about hyping it up to cover up the v2.40 mess :P

Strange how people are reacting as if this is new news? It was mentioned early this year that it will be a full worldwide open beta starting in autumn. This is just to clarify that as its a beta it will still be fully functional just that it will have extra stuff added in the future.
Oh and by the way normally when people mention the stig it always reminds me of this

The thing I typed originally was not that funny and I suspected Stig of the Dump jokes might be beyond the average aged reader in here, so I plagurised msmalls74's post :p

Wow a lot of hating in this thread.
The news is:
  • Home is on time
  • Will be a fully functional open beta
In addition, I am 90% confident it won't be riled with bugs. Past new features that have been included in firmwares have never been buggy, and I expect the same for Home.

My sentiments exactly.

They should have kept it a secret until it was ready to launch. By the point it does actually launch the whole industry will just go "meh"
