I honestly have no idea how I can be so unlucky with this machine, it's like solve one problem and another pops up in a few days. Everything was running good for nearly a week, I even managed to beat Bioshock in that time. However last night I set the machine on standby and was about to go to sleep when I woke it by accident, except nothing would display on the screen. So I reset the machine and turned it back on, and this time there was this weird Green screen when booting, instead of black, and it froze on the Boot screen.

So I reset the CMOS and basically got it running again today, using the other DVI connection on the GPU eventually got things going and was able to run games fine. Checked 3D Mark score and it was the exact same as when I ran it a week ago. So I went to watch TV, and set it to standby again, and it's done the exact same thing again.

When I plug the DVI connection into the machine, sometimes it's a green screen with white writing, and now it's a black screen with purple writing and has hung on Verifying DMI Pool data.

Anyone got any ideas what is causing this problem? I've put it into standby at least ten times during the week and didn't have a single problem.

Specs are http://ikuu.net/images/currentlist.jpg with the OCZ RAM that is on sale just now.

Edit: Reseting CMOS, removing a stick of RAM and I can get into BIOS with the DVI in the second connection and set them to Load Optimized, the machine then restarts and nothing appears on the screen again.

Also sometimes when I power the machine off and on, the red light on the mobo to indicate power doesn't come on, is this some feature of the PSU maybe to protect the board? Or could a faulty PSU be causing some issues.

Reset the CMOS again, both sticks of RAM in, using the second DVI connection and this time it's frozen on the 'Abit' screen.

Woah, just turned the machine off and when I was moving the DVI connection I got a few shocks, and noticed there was some 'charged' between the cable and the port. Switched the machine off now, really got no idea about this one. Prob just gonna turn it into some repair shop, again =(

Sounds like the DVI cable to me, or at least I would be changing that first to see if it fixes the problem. The green, purple, white etc on the screen points it being a problem with the cable or the card, and since the card is 400x dearer than a cable, cable first! :P

Since it keeps happening when you put the pc on standby why don't you stop putting it into standby?

Because it shows that there must be a problem somewhere, I know it seems stupid to put it on standby, but a fully operational computer wouldn't 'break' just because it's on standby.

And it's not the cable, picture is fine running my between my MacBook and the second DVI connection.

There was a huge problem with Vista and sleep mode a while back, they apparantly got it fixed with some updates but I'm not sure if it's completely fixed, just thinking there might be 2 seperate issues here. I remember when I tried Vista a while back, and tried sleep mode - my PC would would not start back from sleep mode and I actually had to reset CMOS's / leave the PC off for half an hour and so forth to get it working. There was a quick fix which I *think* was pressing the reset button twice in a row with a 3 - 5 second gap between presses... not sure if that will help the sleep mode.

The green screen and stuff and the static shock however I'm still mulling over, with get back to you when I can find something and think about it a bit more.
