Funny Games U.S.

I just think people are being overly sensitive about this, especially when the whole point of the thread was to discuss the film and all I got was a bunch of people crying "SPOILER!" :/

Clearly no one is interested in discussing the film so I guess that'll be my last word on the matter.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here and possibly taking it out of context but as per your quote.

Let me throw it back at ya, Surely the abilty to stop reading is one would indulge in to spare yourself the grief? yet you carry on reading comments here and carry on arguing ?

I carry on 'arguing' because I don't feel the argument is justified, plus my thread has been totally derailed.

My first post wasn't even meant to turn this thread into a huge argurement. I merely wanted to point out that some people might see that as a spolier as I thought it would be. You could have taken my comment with a pince of salt and either ignored it, could have maybe edit your OP to cater for my comment or argue to hell and back defending your situation.

Sorry, I guess I just call it like I see it. Perhaps people should approach any movie thread in this board as a potential spoiler if they are that bothered by it. Besides, it's not exactly a new movie is it (well including the original)?

You said "I cannot see how my first post would ruin the movie for anyone, but maybe I'm just strange like that." You just kind of answered your own question there. Maybe you dont see the harm in the OP (but then again you have seen the movie :p)

That doesn't mean I can't make a judgement that everyone in this thread is weird but me!! :D

Seriously though, I will admit that I gave away a tiny part of the plot if you guys admit you have a problem :)

Just because someone mentions some themes that a film has does not make it a spoiler or in any way give the story away. By that logic you'd have to put a spoiler warning when anyone mentions a title of a film!

"Funny Games..?, oh noes, they've given away the storeeeee!!!"

Read my post again, carefully and slowly. It was nothing to do with the film's title . It was because you mention what happens to the family. Try and address the points raised, rather than arguing about fabricated things that people have never said.

Have u seen it? I have only seen the original and I'm pretty sure it surpasses the US version. At least the people on IMDB seem to think so.

Then again, most people are probably put off the original simply because they cant be bothered reading subtitles - understandibly.

Having seen what lysander posts in the stills thread, i would say he's on about the new american version.

Which i would seriously doubt is a patch on the original IMO.

I saw this yesterday, probably one of the singular most frustating films I've ever watched, yet in the end I was glad how it turned out. Gave the film some morbid finality at least.

It's not quite counter cinema, but it uses so many techniques that it comes very close.

You didn't enjoy it? That's the point of counter cinema. To frustrate, provoke, dissatisfy and create an altogether unpleasurable viewing experience.

Plus the fact that you don't ever have any kind of emotional attachment to the characters further serves to show the estrangement technique used in counter cinema.

Good, but I found it genuinely unsettling. It's also a shot for shot remake of the original.
