Fury X Buzz

Sounds like coil/cap whine to me. I had a 7970 that made a very similar noise :o I've found the video I uploaded back when I had the card.

That's coil whine. Vsynch usually helps with this. 3DMark will make the card sing when rendering high FPS. You will find some game menu's will highlight this, Crysis 2 for example again due to rendering high FPS.

Unfortunately its not limited to AMD, You get plenty of coil whine with Nvidia cards too.

PSU's can also have coil whine. Some times there is interaction between the graphics card and psu. So when you send the card back the retailer doesn't find an issue.

I know what coil whine is, I don't want to use vsync. It was the first batch of Fury x's, it's just gotten worse and I want to RMA, but they said it is meant to sound like this.

Apparently the Fury X was meant to buzz.

Sounds terrible that, also sounds like the pump whine issue as well to me, i went through 4 of the buggers before i said enough was enough, got refunded for them all.

One from YT.

Anyone else have a problem like this?

Is it worth an RMA?

Sapphire don't seem to think so...
Mine is like that, it’s not loud but I can hear it as my case fan port is right next to me, at the same height. If I move about 1m away I cannot here it any more. I have an MSI one and it works very well so I’m not that bothered by it. Also I think mine is consistent so it’s the same under load as idle although it nosier at boot up. I found that when I installed it the radiator position had a big effect on the amount of noise it made so I moved it about when it was on to get all the air out of the pump and then fixed the radiator in.

Thank **** I never got an FX tbh.

Sorry to hear of your probs dude :(
My other cards are louder (VaporX 290X, Tri-X 290) under load but the Fury X noise is not as loud but is high pitched so is more of a pain. It’s also there at idle which is more noticeable than when gaming for most people.

should have done it when you got it, It was only ever going to get worse, not better. At the time all the hoo-hah over the pumps got many mark 1's recalled and a different pump used on the replacement models. It's the only reason I'm now on a Fury pro, They took so long getting fixed models out into the market that I gave up waiting for one.

If remember correctly, anyone who bought the first batch of FuryX with the loud pump, had the option to replace it for few weeks last summer.
