Futurama Renewed!

the films were awesome, how can anyone think they were bad?

I think bad is the general consensus, isn't it? Among Futurama fans I know, and from what I've read on gotfuturama's boards and stuff, the feeling is that the films were a let down. Personally, I was a rabid fanboy of the original series and was overjoyed when I heard they'd been commissioned, and even I was disappointed when I finally saw them. They were mediocre at best, and given that the series had been so stellar the contrast was pretty painful :(

Futurama works best as 20min snippets rather than many hour movies.

Yeah, I really hope that returning to the episodic format means the writers rediscover their spark. It seemed at times during the films that everything they could think of was going in, rather than paring stuff down to just the A material like (I assume) one would have to do to tell the entirety of a story in a ~22m episode.

:O sweeeeeeeeeet! lets hope it picks up from the films though. girlfriend is crazy over this show will have to tell her, thanks for the info, cheered my night up:P

YEY, good news :)

Slight worry tho, i watched the first of the movies (with the lots of benders?), and it felt different... not as great as usual!

Were their men in leather with whips? Coz I think that is a different film altogether.... ;)

Films were all crap, different writers to the series.

After reading this thread I went and got the films and have watched them this week. My god they are bad, I gave up on the last one.

I love the series and own all series, I hope to god they don't ruin it with the new ones coming.

I'm calling shenanigans. Can't see Groening & co going ahead with the new series without the original voice actors. They make the show.
